Well, I am. I went to babycenter.com and found this.
Tracey Telles, obstetrician and fertility specialist
Well, no, you can't get your period once you're pregnant — once your body starts producing the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and your pregnancy is established, your menstrual cycle is interrupted and normal periods stop. But you may have bleeding or spotting during pregnancy that can seem like a period.
Some pregnant women have what's called "implantation bleeding" that can happen around the time their period is due, and they may mistake that bleeding for a period. This spotting may be caused by the fertilized egg burrowing into the blood-rich lining of the uterus, a process that starts just 6 days after fertilization, and it's generally a lot lighter than a typical period — just a day or two of very light spotting.
If you're pregnant and you're not sure when your last period started, this can make establishing a due date difficult for your healthcare provider.

If you have any doubts, your provider can feel how big your uterus is with a pelvic examination and estimate how far along you are. In most cases, your provider will also order an ultrasound before the middle of your pregnancy to measure the size of your developing baby and clarify exactly when the baby is due.

Many women who bleed a little bit in early pregnancy deliver without any complications, but bleeding can also be a cause for concern. It may be the first sign of a miscarriage. If so, your symptoms probably will go on to include heavy cramping and bleeding much heavier than a normal period.

Abnormal bleeding can also be a sign of ectopic or tubal pregnancy. If you have sharp pains in your lower abdomen, especially if the pain is only on one side, you should see your practitioner right way to find out if you have an ectopic pregnancy. A tubal pregnancy can be life-threatening, and sometimes the only symptom is bleeding around the time your period is expected.

Often, the period may be lighter than usual. Sometimes a home pregnancy test will be negative, and the pregnancy can only be detected by checking blood hCG levels.

If you bleed at all early in your pregnancy, it's best to notify your doctor or midwife to get specific instructions. She may suggest getting a blood test to check your hCG levels or order an ultrasound to evaluate your condition more thoroughly.

I'll be lucky if anyone reads this - but I'm pregnant with #2 and never had bleeding while pregnant and don't know anyone else who did. I know some people do and it's really rare.

Basically, if you are having regular periods you are not pregnant.

While you may be "techincally" correct that you cannot have a regular menstrual period while pregnant, it is not uncommon to have early vaginal bleeding that MANY women think is a regular period.

I, for one am not a stupid person. I know my body very well and have been pregnant many times BUT i had no clue I was pregnant with my 5th child until I was around 14 weeks when I had my annual physical to renew my birth control pills and discuss having a tubal ligation. I got pregnant while being on a pill I had been on for 4 years, I did not take antibiotics or any other medicines that could have interfered with the effectiveness, I took the pill at the same time every day and I had what I thought was a regular period EVERY month (same flow and length as normal) until I stopped taking the pill when I found out I was pregnant.

Intermitant bleeding (which mimics a period) is not as uncommon as people think and can happen to women who get pregnant while on the pill or can happen for no reason which is called early pregnancy bleeding. Women who have this type of bleeding may delay getting medical care and have difficulty with "dating" a pregnancy because the bleeding is regular and mistaken as a regular period for up to a few months. Of course we have all also heard of implantation bleeding which many women also confuse with a period even though it is lighter than a normal period.

So again while you are "technically" correct in saying that you do not have a period while pregnant many women have what they believe are periods and then find out they are several weeks or months pregnant.

***OOPS forgot to actually answer your question...no I'm not tired of those questions because they could actually be pregnant and if they think they are they should go to the doctor.

Yes, I have experienced this and I was pregnant. BUT, I have also experienced this and found that I have IBS and stress. I'm 9 weeks pregnant at the moment. Every pregnancy id different though. With my first child, I was constipated and bad tempered, my second, I was ill, I felt sick and took really poorly because I was just throwing up everything I ate, I also had the runs something fearce (due to my IBS). My third child, I was constipated again but I went off just about every food imagineable. This one has me exhausted, I get crampy all the time, I have bad mood swings and I'm over emotional. I get up during the night to wee. (I wee ALOT) lol, I have become less interested in caffine etc... Hope that was some help. :)

I can understand SOME of the "am I pregnant" questions, but the bulk of them I just want to reach out and shake someone and yell "Take a test don't ask everyone here!" Most of the time, there isn't enough info, or they shouldn't be having sex because they don't know enough about the reproductive system and how getting pregnant even happens... Some people here are just second guessing themselves and want to hear the yes or no opinions from others before they go to the doctor or go buy that test so they don't feel so nervous.

Hottie, you're not reading all the info are you? Or half the posters here for that matter?
The monthly cycle of changes in the ovaries and the lining of the uterus (endometrium), starting with the preparation of an egg for fertilization. When the follicle of the prepared egg in the ovary breaks, it is released for fertilization and ovulation occurs. Unless pregnancy occurs, the cycle ends with the shedding of part of the endometrium, which is menstruation. Although it is actually the end of the physical cycle, the first day of menstrual bleeding is designated as "day 1" of the menstrual cycle in medical parlance.

So..........if you are pregnant the bleeding cannot be defined as a period. NOT ALL VAGINAL BLEEDING IS A PERIOD. I don't understand what people don't comprehend-by medical definition, it's impossible for you to menstruate while pregnant. You can bleed, but it ain't a period. It's caused by something else, and called something else.

yes, I agree with you and I think that you should post this on all of those questions SERIOUSLY!
I understand light bleeding when prego, I am 8 weeks and have been spotting for 3 days, I had a ultra sound today to make sure baby is doing ok, and yes everything is fine, I have just been put on bed rest. But I never had a regular period, and new I was pregnant before I started spotting. I try to also tell these women that bleeding at any stage of pregnancy can be dangerous, and that they should call there OBGYN. I am grateful that I have a doctor that puts my mind at ease when there is spotting, but when you have a regular period I think there is no reason or cause to think you are pregnant!

My friend had her normal periods, bleeding, whatever you want to call it, for 3 months when she was pregnant, and she couldn't just take a test because it wouldn't show up. It can happen....

actually you can have periods while your pregnant, its not common, but it can happen. and im not talking about implantation bleeding, im talking full blown period. so it seems Ms. Tracey Telles doesnt know everything.

oh, Mrs. B .... before someone knows there pregnant ANY VAGINAL bleeding to them is a period. so NO, no one who thinks they are having a period is thinking "Oh, maybe im pregnant and this is coming from my cervix, because the cervix is highly sensitive and can bleed when your pregnant." -- get over it.
