What state would you be most likely to see bears in?

Besides Alaska, where in the U.S. could you see lots of bears? I assume thered be a lot in most of the northern states, but what about northern California, could i see a bear there? (like around lake Tahoe/) thanks!

New Jersey is actually having a problem with too many black bear. Yes, they estimate maybe 24000 black bear in California.

Grizzly/brown bear are resident to the northwestern USA. They do often share habitat with the black bear. Grizzly were not known to ever live in the eastern USA. Before the white man moved west, grizzly bear could be found in all the states west of the prairies. That included California.

Bears are usually found in the Northern States,
but Zoos with bears are in Florida!

Yes we have many black bears in Northern California. I had one in my yard last summer(I need to be careful what I put in the trash). They can be seen in all the national parks and national forests in California. They do not come around on demand and with the measures over the last few years to keep them out of the garbage they are not seen that often in the campgrounds. But if you spend much time in the woods and camp-out you are likely to see them from time to time.

Grizzlies can be found in Wyoming, Montana and Alaska. Black bears on the other hand live in every state except the great plains.
