The advantage of the product, shown, is that you can use it on, virtually, any surface.

Problem is, that it is not designed, specifically for creating digital artwork. You cannot, for instance, change the scale of the work as it appears on the monitor. This could be important, if you want to zoom in to create or see more detail.

It also appears that, once the image is captured in the computer and stored, you can't pull it up and do any further modifications in any but the software it comes with. In other words, the user can not utilize the many tools and features of Photoshop, Illustrator, Core, Painter, Gimp or any of the other, more popular applications.

I notice that the only color controls mentioned in the description is for line color. This tool does not seem to be able to do fills, gradiated fills, or, for that matter, has no pressure sensitivity. It will only make a unform thickness or darkness untill you have to reset a separate feature, instead of "on the fly" as an artist would normally do.

And, there is no mention of support by any other applications, other than the image can be saved in jpeg format.

I, too, would rather spend a little more money on a full featured graphics tablet, that is supported by most other graphics programs.

Even then, you don't need to spend even this amount. Graphics tablets have come so far down in price, that you can find them for around $50. (and, they do so much more than the one at Walmart, or the pen computer shown on TV ads.)

Go with a graphics tablet.

the tool you are looking at is used for illustration mostly. Yes, that is what users on deviantart mostly use.

Graphic Design is a totally different thing. Graphic Design is a process of visual communication, mainly ad campaigns, logo design, webpages, and mostly Typography. Graphic Design does not normally include illustrations and is usually a very skilled process that uses mainly the mouse and keyboard.

This stylus tool you found will be fun, and help you in getting your illustrations into the computer. You will also need to have an illustrations/drawing program on your computer that is compatible with the pen tool you are buying. Look on the back of the box (or the bottom of the page description) to see what programs and computers this pen tool will work with.

Alot of my friends in my GD program have a stylus, but they don't use it for class projects, only for fun things they do for their deviantart profiles, etc.

Have fun!

definite, all internet and image designers are gay. immediately people can no longer understand HTML. 3-D modellers and animators are bisexual. It provides them one extra length over 2d modellers. in case you paintings in a layout enterprise, the the remainder of the staff will assume you're gay hit on you. in case you get a female pal you would be sacked presently after. you would be safer in a three-D modelling studio.
