As a personal trainer I must tell you... a bowflex is NOT better than free wieghts. Nothing is. Stop listening to commercials.

It depends on your position but in general you need to work your legs out a lot. Leg workouts increase testosterone in the body and actually help your upper body grow faster. Upper body comes 3rd.... your core must be worked out before your upper body. It takes stress off any throwing motion you will have by playing any position including pitcher. Cardio is actually more important than upper body because it helps your blood deliver nutrients to your upper body. Too many people make the newbie mistake of working upper body over and over again.

A good diet is just as important as any exercise so don't put too much faith into your workout regime. Eat right, follow my basic points and you will get as far as you can go w/ baseball.

The rest is all practice practice practice, because nothing can replace the skill of hitting a 95 MPH fastball.

If you want to be a serious hitter then work on your core and legs. They are the most important things for a quick, powerful swing. I dont know much about bowflex but do whatever for your legs and core.

A free weight and cardio training plan would probably be more efficient and effective, however with any strength-training for baseball you want to develop your core strength(quads, hamstrings, glutes, back, obliques, and abs). Additionally, keep in mind that you want to work on your shoulders- especially your rotator cuff. Also, as an add-on, you can generate extra power in your throwing and hitting by building your forearms and wrists.

Depends on what you're looking for. The legs are very important for pitching and the triceps help with all types of throwing.

However, that being said, you don't want to bulk up anything. Flexibility is a HUGE benefit, especially if you are like I was and like to play lots of positions. Work more on tone and endurance...and run...a lot. I hated running, but if you're ever planning on being a pitcher, get used to it. During HS and after half of my practices were spent running, the other half throwing.

Legs are always good for baseball, but also, make sure you're developing your back with lots of pulldowns and rows. When throwing a ball, the muscles in your chest are used to accelerate your arm, while the weaker muscles in your back are used do deaccelerate, if you end up with too weak of a back, you can be prone to a shoulder injury.

Depends on how you approach the game. speedy runners should focus on leg strength. Upper body is important but legs strength is a big deal also. When I played I tried to well round my conditioning and focused on both. I hit for high average and speed on the bases.

Your core muscles really are the most important part of a players body. the ability to get your hips to explode into a swing will truly give you mor epop on a ball. the same applies to pitchers using your core can vastly affect the velocity of you fastball. legs are the second most important.

Core, legs, & shoulders. Make sure your form is good, otherwise no amount of weight training will do you a bit of good. Stretch a lot to improve your flexibility, and you won't be prone to injury.
