No, I don't think she is making a mistake. I don't really think it's a mistake for Obama either, but I don't think it will make much of a difference when it comes times to vote. My gut instinct is that the focus states, Iowa and NH in particular, have seen these dog and pony shows more than once in Presidential elections. They will go and see Oprah, most of us love Oprah of course. But will her opinion matter a whit to most of them when it comes time to vote? I doubt it. They are a bunch of hard core serious voters in those states, the whole country is watching them. They take their vote way too seriously to vote for a candidate because a celebrity, even one as amazing as Oprah, tells them they should.

Oprah is free to back anyone she wants to. She has a lot of lemmings following her. I doubt that anyone will vote for Obama simply because Oprah is backing him. I think that she will be successful in getting her viewing constituency to take a closer look at Obama and decide for themselves.

If I were running for office and could get Oprah to back me, I'd consider that a major coup.

Obama's a loser from Illinois who was slated to run and lose the Senate seat held by Republican Peter Fitzgerald a very popular replublican.

Then Fitzgerald decided not to run for re-election, to spend more time with his family.

So Obama got in quite by accident.

He won't even get re-elected.

Oprah is wasting her money.

By the way, until 2005 I lived in Illinois for over 28 years so I know something about Illinois and their voters.

I really think so , she should be backing Hillary because she is a woman . what she is showing right now is a little bit of racist. Isn't that funny in 2007 looks like Oprah has little personality problem about her skin color.

yes. i think she risk alienating viewers who don't share her political views. personally, i have a hard time with celebrity endorsements of political candidates. it takes the focus off the issues and makes it even more of a popularity contest than it already is. oprah should have continued what she does best, and focus her energies on educating people about the issues and encouraging people to vote.

It's all about her. So Obama may be the one making a mistake.

Oprah is her own person...no matter what we think she'll never change.

As for backing Obama, I don't care.
