I am 29 weeks prego and have a chinchilla. My chinchilla scratches me alot and the scratches swell b/c I can't take my allergy medicine. Do u think this hurts the baby?

I know they tell pregnant women not to handle litter boxes etc while pregnant due to risk of certain infections. I would definitely make sure you aren't exposing your baby to anything potentially harmful

You know...I'm not certain on this but I would ask the Dr for sure!! You don't want to risk your baby's health because of some scratches. Don't handle it until you know for sure that it is safe!!

It could, rodents carry bacteria even if purchased from a pet store and disease free. If you're not washing your hands after you hold him you should be. And don't ever clean his litter cat. You probably fine but I would take extra precautions. Congrats on the baby!

any type of animal scratching you is never a good thing. Those rodents should not be scratching you while preg and also be careful handling its stool when cleaning up.
