only 50 years ago blacks still had no rights, they were beaten, getting hosed down by whites until 1964. Ofcourse in the 40s,50s,60s treatment towards blacks wasn't as bad as in earlier times but still it' only 50 years ago. And today there is still discrimination in some way towards minority groups. But here we are in 2007 and we have a BLACK man running for president. BLACK running to be in charge of all races in America. Interesting how a turn of events happen in such a little time period. What you think? 1960= blacks no rights, 2007 Black man running for president.
Honestly, I NEVER thought a black man would be able to run for president.
Do you Think the 1st black man OBAMA will be in the white house in 2008?

I THOUGHT THE NEGROIDS SAID BILL CLINTON WAS THE FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT.
"(CNSNews.com) - Former President Bill Clinton was honored as the nation's first black president Saturday at the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Awards Dinner on in Washington, DC."

Seeing this whole election campaign from an outsider's point of view, I honestly don't think America is ready for a black president. It's barely capable of having a group of voters even close to a majority supporting a woman for president.
America has come a long way since the NAACP were fighting at Little Rock but sadly, not far enough I fear.
It was after your Civil War in 1865 when blacks were given equal rights!! It didn't take long for them to lose them again though.
I think the above comments, eg "that ****** is going to appoint an all black cabinet they di it", demonstrate quite nicely that racism is still alive and well everywhere, including the US. A lot of that ignorance needs ta change before Obama gets in. I wonder when a black woman will be president =)

Actually, Obama is not the first black person to run for president. Jesse Jackson ran years ago, and in 2004 Al Sharpton and Carol Mosley Braun (a black woman) ran. However, these three all lost the primary (they were all democrats). Obama is the first black man to stand a chance at reaching the general election as a candidate from a major party. I definitely think he has a great chance at winning the white house (ironic: white house, black man). Anyway, his real test is the primary. If he is able to defeat Hillary, he shouldn't have too much trouble winning the presidency, no matter which republcian he faces.

It's a sign of progress, yes. But in a way, it's actually even sad. For a group that has been in this country since before it even was its own country, it's nothing short of maddening that it's taken this long. There were black US Senators one hundred and thirty years ago and then, not again UNTIL Barack Obama. And he was born when? 1960?
Perhaps in the scale of history, 50 years is brief. But for a human being, it's nearly a lifetime. How many people spent their lifetimes waiting for a day of equality to come?
So, you say it was "fast". I can't agree.
You sound as if you're saying it's about time. I do agree there.

Why cant you see whats going on? The tea party was taken over by the govt a long time ago. The news says the tea party is racist. The govt creates a black panther party and now the 2 will go to "war". Im all for HUMAN rights. For freedom, for the constitution. But we need to stop all this black white, and brown bull ****. We are all one. WE ARE ALL AMERICANS!!!! The second you make a group in this time of age like the black panthers is the second you create race division. Witch is exactly what the new world order wants. More groups for more fighting, they dont want us to become one, because we THE PEOPLE AMERICAN CITIZENS could take back control of our govt. if we stoped fighting and realized we all just want freedom.

Obama was raised as a Muslim. Hope not. Just don't trust him much. matter of fact, don't trust any of them much except Fred Thompson. Wish he had a better chance. He just doesn't have the financial backing that Hilliary and Obama do.
