It depends on the smell. If its a bad food smell, put a box of baking soda in the fridge and sprinkle some in the garbage cans.
Baking soda is also a cheap way to get carpets and sofas clean. Sprinkle it on those things and leave overnight, then vacuum it up.
If the smell is musty or a pet smell, febreeze on your carpet and sofa is your best bet (sorry, I know you already do that, but just make sure you get it where fabrics might smell).
Clean-smelling candles (like clean laundry) or lavender sachets can help. If you're worried about your room, tuck some good-smelling dryer sheets around the room.

Try to find the source of the smell. If your house is clean and you use Febreeze, there's got to be something going on there that you don't know about for it to be really stinky. Do you live in the country? Maybe there is a dead animal stuck somewhere?

One trick is to put a few drops or light spray of perfume or vanilla on lightbulbs. When they are turned on they will emit a nice smell. Open your windows when possible and let your house air out. I wish you could have been more specific on the odor e.g., stuffy, mildewy, stale, animal smells, etc. Another trick is to tuck dryer sheets in and and your various furniture and drawers in your home. These are easy to do things that most people have on hand. On the light bulb trick, a little goes along wasy and a cotton ball can spread a small amount all over the bulb. Hope that helps!

Well why does it smell?
Do you have cats? Dogs? or any animals??
Make sure you clean up after them

Sometimes my house smells and even though it looks really clean we sometimes have like old food left in the pantry or the trash just needs to be taken out. After that its all good and back to normal.

Just go around your whole house and clean it and then afterwards go around smelling things... i know its weird but there's been times when i go crazy because i clean and clean but i can still smell something like a missed a spot.

You don't really say what it smells like, if it's always smelled this way or if it just started recently.

The above suggestions are good but you might want to look for the source of the smell...

Does it smell like a dead animal, BO, fried fish, dirty laundry, moldy carpet, cigarette smoke, rancid food in the trash can?

You'll probably need to find the source, if it's fried food you can set bowls of ammonia around for a day to absorb it, if it smells like a dead animal look in the basement and attic, stinky carpet you can sprinkle baking soda and vacuum it up.. it'll help but not fix it... maybe it's as simple as giving the dog a bath or putting the dirty laundry in the garage... what's it smell like ????

Do you have a ton of animals? That pee in the house? Is there something dead in your house?

I would suggest getting a cheap Candle like, I have a candle from the store that was only a couple bucks in the bathroom, it gets rid of all smells, and it smells good, put one in your room.

open all the windows, or tell your mom the house smells and she should do something about it

you can also get one of those new Glad steam air freshener timers. they smell so good also!
http://peterthink.blogs.com/thinking/gladewisp.jpg

also, you can buy some lamp insent oils. all you need is a lamp ring and an oil scent you like http://www.spawish.com/images/ecom/Products_790_9.jpg

i use all these products and my friends are always commenting on how nice my house always smells.
you can get the febreeze at walmart or any drug store pretty much, you can get the air steamers at walmart, and you can get the lamp ring and oil at the body shop, or fruits and passion.

enjoy.

Pour white vinegar down the drains...if mold is growing in them it would smell foul. You can also put small dishes of white vinegar around and they will help neutralize odors. You need to figure out where the smell is coming from. Are there mice in the attic?

Open all the windows and air it out. If you have carpet, use some carpet fresh with baking soda and vacuum. Get some plug ins, and light some fragrant candles. Start tonight so the odor elimination process can begin.
