That question was asked by MANY footbal fans at the time....I guess we know the answer to that quesion now.
Someone in San Diego is looking petty brilliant on that call about right now!
If only they had the same kinda wise choice on their coaching situation.
Just bring Marty back and go back to winning...dont you think so?

Drafts in any sport are a crapshoot and a vaunted prospect can often turn into a bust (See Michael Olowonkandi in the NBA).

Here's my point:
in 2000 the Patriots selected 2 time Super Bowl MVP with the 199th pick (in the 6th round), here are some QB's drafted ahead of him (Overall Pick Location in Parenthesis):
Chad Pennington (18)
Giovanni Carmazzi (65)
Chris Redman (75)
Tee Martin (163)
Marc Bulger (168)
Spergon Wynn (183)

Other Noteable Players taken in late rounds:
Marques Colston 7th Round (252)
Patrick Crayton 7th Round (216)
Derek Anderson 6th Round (213)

Now some High Pick Busts:
Ryan Leaf (2)
Tim Couch (1)
Akili Smith (3)
David Carr (1)
Joey Harrington (3)

So, Judging a team by draft picks is pretty pointless, If ANYBODY could have seen 10 years into the future, there's no way Tom Brady Gets drafted 199 while Peter Warrick gets the #4 overall pick.

Someone has been looking pretty brilliant on that call for a while. Not only did they get LT out of that deal, I think they also got Drew Brees.

They also effectively traded Eli Manning to the Giants for Philip Rivers and Shawne Merriman. I'd say that worked out in their favor too.

They should bring Marty back and go back to winning lots of regular season games.

I guess the Colts management can magically see 10 years into the future too. They chose Peyton Manning over Ryan Leaf, Imagine that.

Football is always evolving. Decisions that were made in the past will not always end up biting them in the butt.

nothing brilliant about that call, i see nothing of it. you dont have to be perfect to play and to win in the superbowl.
