Not only was there no president of the United States of America during the American Revolution, there was not even a United States of America during the American Revolution. Technically speaking, what would eventually become the USA were colonies of Britain that were in rebellion (they were considered to be revolting against the King). However, the commanding general of the American revolutionary forces was George Washington, who would later chair the convention which chartered the Consitution which founded the USA and become elected the new nation's first President.

This question makes my head hurt.
The ruler of the American Colonies was King George III.
The Second Continental Congress had a president; this person was more like the Speaker of the House of Representatives now. In July 1776, that person was John Hancock. Others who served during the revolution were Henry Laurens, John Jay, and Samuel Huntington.
ETA: The formal title of the declaration of independence is "The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United States of America." It didn't refer to a single U.S. government but to each individual colony as a state.
Also, the colonies did have a government; the Articles of Confederation had been adopted in the summer of 1777. Under the Articles, the United States confederation could borrow and print money, make war, conduct diplomacy, and resolve issues concerning the western territories claimed by several states. However, the government could not levy taxes and had to ask the states for money. It only included a legislative branch.

I saw a show about that this afternoon on the History Channel. During the war there was no president. The constitution calling for a President and the three branches of the government was written and went into effort after the war was won. The thirteen colonies were not at all united and their was a lot of unrest. There was no central government and the economy was nonexistent and there was no currency. It was James Madison who came up with the three branches of government at the constitutional convention and it was George Washington who pushed for a chief executive known as the President because his dealings with the Continental congress during the war showed him that you have to have a head guy who in the end can make decisions that congresses cannot at certain times of national emergency. He called for a civilian President in sole charge of the military. Washington became our first President because it was said he was the only man who could united the states at the time.

~The War for American Independence (it was NOT a revolution and should not be called one) was contested between 1775 and 1783. Prior to 1783, the rightful ruler of the region was the monarch and Parliament of Great Britain (even after the declaration of independence, The Lee Resolution of July 2, 1776 - which had no effect as a matter of law or within the community of nations). The United States of America was founded in 1789. Between 1783 and 1789, thirteen independent nations in the western Hemisphere confederated together in an alliance or a commonwealth of nations. Given that basic history, you should be able to figure it out from there.
I sincerely hope you are not beyond sixth grade to be asking such an elementary question. If I am mistaken in that, please don't ever register to vote.
