There are American laws protecting endangered Iguana's in Guantanamo Bay but none protecting detainees. Why do animals in Guantanamo Bay have more rights than humans?

Does no one know that many detainees have no charges against them. How does America do something like this?

What I am getting at and perhaps I put this in the wrong category, is the legal aspect. The article details the ambiguous nature of laws in Guantanamo Bay. Perhaps it would be wiser if the U.S. Government handled detainees with less ambiguity?

I can't see how the current situation with detainees in Guantanamo Bay is helping our image and national security.

Military courts deal with the prisoners there(If there not working fast enough for you, I really don't care)

The Red-Cross has an office there to make sure detainees are treated well.(don't believe me?ck with the red cross)

Detainees there are treated better than american citizens in american prisons.......

Yet I have yet to see an uproar about that.......

People are really amazing....aren't they?

The "detainees" are NOT citizens of the USA, thusly the American LAWS do NOT APPLY to people who are NOT American citizens.

The iguanas are under American jurisdiction, but animals do not have rights... rights can only be "exercised" by those who have them, and animals cannot "exercise" rights.

BTW... you actually believe everything you see/read/hear on PMS-NBC? Good grief! Where's the kool-aid?

Have a right-wing day.

Perhaps because the animals are more deserving of humane treatment than those "detainees" at Guantanamo Bay? I'm afraid you will find little sympathy for those individuals.

The animals are usually innocent, the "people" at gitmo are not. And are being treated far better than they deserve. In previous conflicts they would have received a short trial by a Military Tribunal and executed.

The animals didn't give up their rights.

If one of the Iguanas attacked a child with deadly intent, the law would not protect it from being killed.

The people in Gitmo have given up their rights and are lucky to be alive.

My guess is if we brought a goat back from the battlefield in Afghanistan, it would be afforded every right an American goat now enjoys.

The animals that currently sit in Guantanamo, however, don't deserve those rights.

Your precious terrorists have more comforts provided than citizens. Free legal aid , health care, reading materials, religious expression, special diet, all at MY expense. They were detained on the battle field attempting to kill US soldiers. If it had be the other way around , we would be burying our soldiers headless bodies.

How many iguanas have blown themselves up in a crowded place? My guess is ZERO

THese are prisoners of WAR, not common criminals. There is a difference.

How many animals do you know who are considered "Enemy Combatants" by the United States government? (If you do know of any, be sure and turn them in)
