PS3.
Features: Built in Blu-ray, Wifi, bluetooth, Hard Drive, and free internet gaming, all for $399. Neither the Wii nor the 360 have any of these built in. They are all extras for extra $.
Games: 360's 2007 lineup was amazing, but the 2008 lineup isn't looking nearly as good. The PS3's 2008 lineup, however, is already looking great with Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Haze, Little Big Planet, Motorstorm 2, Resistance: Fall of Man 2, and Africa, all of which are PS3 exclusives.
Quality: This one is obvious. 1/3 (33%) of all 360's get the red ring of death. PS3's and Wii's have less than a 1% failure rate.
Longevity: Wii's do not have a hard drive, and basically have the graphical prowess of 2001. Because 1 out of every 3 Xbox 360's sold does NOT have an included Hard Drive (Core and Arcade models), the 360, like the wii, has one serious dissadvantage; every 360 game has to be able to play WITHOUT a hard drive.
From a programming point of view, not having a hard drive is a serious problem. Normally, when a system reads a game you can temporarily cache vast amounts of Data on the Hard Drive while at the same time streaming data from the disc itself. This allows for much more constant information to be sent and displayed, increasing the performance of the system. Because every Wii and 360 must be able to play games and not use the hard drive, this limits the amount of information that can be used/displayed, automatically limiting the actual size of the world in a game and its appearance.
Because EVERY PS3 comes with a HDD, games can cache all the Data they need to make the game environments bigger and better. Again, when you first put Uncharted in a PS3, the game loads for a considerable amount of time. However, once you start playing, there is no more loading. You can literally play the entire game without seeing another loading screen. Why? Because the initial loading phase is stuffing the HDD full of extra info allowing huge, detailed environments with no later load time. It is a beauitiful thing.
Again, its all about longevity. As games get bigger and bigger with ever increasing detail, the ability of programmers to run their games on the 360 (and ESPECIALLY the Wii), will become more and more limited. This has already been seen in Grand Theft Auto 4, where Rockstar admited to having hard time getting the massive game to run on 360 without a Hard Drive.
Do the PS3. I have one and love it. I also have a wii. It is fun, but I play the PS3 more. My bro. has the 360 and now wishes he got the PS3.
I hope this helped. Good luck.

This is the end all argument for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Note that I am not a fanboy and have played both consoles and by far the Playstation 3 has longevity than the Xbox 360. These are facts and I have numerous sources. Why is this answer long? It refutes everything that Xbox 360 owners say about the Playstation 3.
Company:
Microsoft is a company which experiences are mostly computers not games. Windows Vista is a disaster and 50% of people switch back to Windows XP. Microsoft never answered people's problems, this is why people turn to Mac. When Microsoft heard about their Red Ring of Death, they didn't fix it, instead updated the warranty.
Sony's first Playstation was a success, so they know their field with this. Their smart and reliable and always help their customers when they need too. When Playstation 2 had a lens error, it was Sony who provided how to clean your Playstation 2 with a cotton swab and alcohol, not someone else.
Price:
Look at the bigger picture. With the Playstation 3 you are getting a Blu-Ray DVD player which like $300 on the market for the cheapest one. Playstation 3 most expensive model cost $600 bucks. Xbox 360 most expensive model cost $450 bucks. Let's say Microsoft don't come out for another console for 5 years so lets add their $50 subscription fee to play Xbox Live. That's $250 dollars + $450 dollars for a Xbox 360 in 5 years minus the games. So you are paying more than the Playstation 3 just to use it's features. Features that should have been granted to you when you spent the $450 bucks for their console.
Problems:
Playstation 3 had a slight bug problem (3% in consoles worldwide) but was fixed right away with re-releases of the consoles. People complained about their Sixaxis controller not having rumble technology so Sony has worked on Dualshock 3, which will be coming out in Spring 2008. They actually listen when someone complains.
Xbox 360 currently has a major hardware malfunction that only Microsoft can fix. This is a problem in 33% of their consoles in the United States (1 out of 3). Even in their new consoles, these problems still occur. Microsoft has offered to fix it for free and extended their warranty. The problem is it takes 6 weeks to get your Xbox 360 back and it could get stolen in the mail and you won't get reimbursed. In fact Xbox 360 is number 1 in the top ten bad electronics in 2007. Everyone I know is on their second console. If only Microsoft would tell local Gamestops how to fix the problem, but they don't have the best interest in gamers in mind.
Games:
Xbox 360 has better games than the Ps3 now, but by the end of 2008, the Playstation 3 will have way more better games. How do I know? E3 2007 graded every console. Wii got a C- because they talked about their success. Xbox 360 got a C because they talk about their games in 2007 such as Halo and BioShock. The Ps3 got a B- because their longevity is noticed and their games in 2008 will be the best out of the 3 consoles.
Xbox 360 has had a head start for a year and their games are slightly better than Ps3. Their top 3 games: Halo 3, Gears of War, and Bioshock are all First Person Shooters. They don't have a mix array of games. Microsoft dishes a lot of cash to the developers to keep games exclusive.
Playstation 3 has a mix array with Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear Solid, and Haze. Upcoming games that spread out their fast and growing game genre.
Developers had 2 years to dish out games for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 is not far behind.
Online:
Xbox 360 online is better because more people since it came out a year earlier than the Ps3. When Ps3 introduces Home, the online community will become more connected and better.
In closing, you can't go wrong with the Playstation 3. Playstation 1 and 2 were major hits and the Playstation 3 will follow. Getting a Xbox 360 is like having a Daweoo, a pretty dumb idea.
Who are you going to choose? The 2 time back to back winner of the console wars or the sophomore that came back unprepared for a rematch (When I mean unprepared I mean buggy [like the ring of death])
The Ps3 is a end all hands down winner.

Well, I have already chosen the PS3. I got my 60GB PS3 last year.
In terms of features, the PS3 has all of the features: Blu-Ray, Bluetooth, Web browser, built in Wifi, Free Online play, and backward compatibility with thousands ofPS1 &PS2 games with the 20GB, 60GB, and 80GB PS3.
In terms of games, the PS3 has a good selection, it just doesn't have as many as the 360. Many people say that the 360 has more games, but I think it's funny because only like 4 or 5 games are even worth playing for the console, and Xbox 360 owners always mention the same games for the 360 (Gears of War, Bioshock, Halo3, and Mass Effect). The PS3 has more and better exclusives coming in 2008.
In terms of quality, the PS3 is nothing but the best quality. The PS3 is made from Sony. Sony makes nothing but the best in electronics and the PS3 has a failure rate less than 1%. The Xbox 360's failure rate is over 30%.
And in terms of entertainment, the PS3 has that as well. The 60GB and 80GB PS3 has the digital camera flash card slots, it can play Blu-Ray DVD's, regular DVD's, CD's, and many other video and music formats.
Basically the PS3 is the all in one package. If any one is looking for the console that can do everything out of the box without having to buy wireless adapters and HD-DVD attachments, the PS3 is the console.

I will either choose Wii or Xbox 360 because Wii is very fun to play with friends and is very innovative while 360 has a lot of hardcore games that I like. 360 is more for older gamers while Wii is young people orientated. I would get PS3 when some good games and features come out for it.

I CAN SIT HERE AND GO TO WIKIPEDIA,ORG AND COPY & PASTE STUFF, AND LIE TO YOU THAT I KNOW THE STUFF, BUT IT TAKES TOO MUCH TIME SO I AM GOING TO USE MY HEAD TO ANSWER THIS QUETIONS; Both All are Good Systems But I think Its Between Xbox 360 elite Vs Ps3. Both Support Hdmi, Full Hd 1080p, Great games, videos, music, pictures, High dvd Quality, so much **** that youre System can blow up, lol. But I think The only Difference Is You, The gamer What you want, Both Have Online Feature. PS3 HAS BLUE RAY, SIX AXIS WIRELESS CONTROLLER. I CAN GO INTO MORE DETAIL, BUT ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT IN THE GAME SYSTEM, I GOT A PS3, AM GETTING AN XBOX 360 ELITE FOR XMAS, AND I THINK HAVING ALL THREE WILL BENEFIT A GAMER, AND THE NINTENDO WII, HAS THE MOTION DETECTING CONTROLLER. THESE ARE THE TOP SYSTEMS, AND I THINK COMPARING THEM, ISNT BENEFICIAL, IF YOURE RICH YOU CAN GET ALL THREE, lOL

I would go with the 360 and here is my reason
Games Xbox 360 software revenue at retail outsold PS3’s software portfolio 8:1 and Wii’s 4:1, selling 3 times more than both platforms combined.
http://majornelson.com/archive/2007/10/18/september-npd-numbers-are-in.aspx
that because the games are kick *** in quality and games make the console
some say the ps3 has better graphics because people where beat down buy Sony and saying cell possessor is the most powerful thing since apple pie. we all knew that it comes down to how the game play and look and not specs we learned that from Amd and Intel days.
I know gamespot and Ign.com have done comparison in the past showing that games look better on the 360, and Gametrailers.com has video of recent game side by side comparisons done hd quality to find out which games look better on the console and 360 wins majority of the results or pretty much tied. here recent one done with assassins creed.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28005.html
Xbox 360 has rumble in the controller and if you turn it off it feels like something is missing, when you dont feel the gun going off, or hit the curve when you are using a driving game, and the many little effects that go on in the game, and I see why so many people and Sony fans where upset why they didn't; have it in there new console.
I will agree I have heard the results from the first release of the xbox 360 had a 30 percent failer rating, and Sony has been much more reliable. Microsoft has taken leaps and bonds to fix the person console and giving a 3 year ring of death warranty on all the consoles as well most of the consoles you buy right now have upgraded colling cpu and improved the things that caused them to fail. I have had mine since the original lunch and it been working fine with no problems and I use it tons from play games for 5+ hours straight, to watching movies, tv shows, video arcade and demos and more. plus leaving on over night and no issues.
Yes we all know that Sony online if free but you get what you pay for. any real gamer knows that the 360 xbox live is a far superior service when it comes to online gaming and staying truly connected to your friends online, plus true skills, and very good quality service. plus many of the features of the live services are free as a silver member ship
more info on xbox live and member ship level here
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/memberships/
I will also give you info on the different xbox 360 consoles
here
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/compare101.htm?WT.svl=nav
but you save a lot if you go with the pro or the elite, the elite comes with the huge hard drive so there no need to buy another hard drive, it comes with both component and hdmi cables which ps3 doesn't come with, head set for communication and again that is extra and it makes the online unified system where you know every one can communicate, and right now two free games that are pretty kicking good titles.
Game trailers did a video game console x mas buy guide the suggest the 360 if you are a hard core gamer if you like fps action, sports titles and many more, and the wii for family and kids games.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28139.html
and yes 360 is also coming out with IPTV here info here
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/32742.html
plus Microsoft can connect to any pc in the house and get view your pictures videos and music, and that is something that ps3 cannot do. plus if you do have a media center pc, 360 will act as a media extender. plus one nice feature my play list I have on my computer I can play it on my console and play it into any game that I play or create my person game music and can play music skip title while in game and also connect and find my friends and what they are doing, join them or ask them to join me. op top of that I can be in a private chat room and being play my game and my friend play his game or watching tv and still be able to talk to him or many of my other friends with out having to exit my game or interfere with what am doing, all this can be done and so much more features on the 360 that the ps3 doesn't have, if anything ps3 will have to copy.
well both console are much better the old xbox and ps2, there many pluses about both console, but to me it comes down to their service features, and great games and right now I feel the 360 has it hands down, with top notch graphics.
I hope you have a great gaming experience and have a good game shoping too.
