Curb appeal, that's what my house needs?

Question

Modest home, in North Dakota. House faces the street and back has an alley. Garage is in the back of the house, I have a good size deck but no yard to speak of. There is about six to eight feet between me and my neighbors to the left and the right of my house. There is about 40 feet of front yard. Right now I have an ash tree in the front yard, and grass. I think the ask tree will grow too big for the space. I need lots of ideas! I'm trying to get some curb appeal.

The house is brand new in a young neighborhood. The new shutters idea is great; window boxes won't work; windows face north. the front of the house faces north. I have a straight concrete walk from the sidewalk to the front door.

Shutters really make a house look nicer. Also landscaping across the front of your house. If the Ash tree looks nice don't get rid of it, they are slow grower and can make your house worth more. You could put a raised flower bed around the base of the Ash tree using brick and it would be very pretty.

List of the top of my head (with my husbands input as well).

- fresh coat of paint.
- Clean windows
- New shutters
- Red door (I love them for front doors).
- Make sure the deck looks nice (new coat of sealant if needed).
- You can try placing a stone path
- You can try planting some flowers
- Maybe a flowering tree

obviously make sure everything is cleaned up really nice and stuff is put away. Then i would do window boxes, a nice small bed of flowers around the walkway and some shrubs along the curb.
