My parents assume that when they see a black man in a non suburban area, they have a gun their pockets. Please don't tell me that's racist ....... cmon now. These kids in my school think Japanese and Koreans are the richest asians in America while cambodians, filipinos, laotians, etc are the poorest, dirtiest, etc who can't live for ****. I don't know if that is true but either way that is so racist, we are all hard working.

My parents grew up in a mental ghetto. They associated only with their own nationality, some Irish and a few Polish. I rebelled against this and taught my children to be tolerant. Unfortunately many of the people subject to discrimination, are guilty of the same faults. I think it may spring from a sense of inadequacy . They put others down to make themselves equal or superior.

A very complicated question with many answers im sure...but i think for the most part it comes down to closed minded people and the environment they have been exposed to...including familial, social, political, individual and media influence as well as experience
