Why can I not hear anyone talking on my phone? or hear any sounds when I click buttons? but I can .....?

hear text messages being sent to me and when I get phone calls and when I turn my phone on, but nothing else. My phone isn't on mute or anything. How can I fix this? and what's wrong?

Do you have it set to headset only? Sometimes it makes it so that you can only hear sounds if you have a headset attached.
