i have a money box for each grandchild, all year i put all loose change in them, and thats what they get for christmas. it is up to them whether to bank it or spend it. i also have one for myself, it really comes in handy at this time of year and you'd be surprized at how much you can save. i banked mine today almost $400, not bad hey.

the kids money boxes are smaller and usually average around $30, which i could not afford in one hit, as we have 9 grandkids and 2 more due in jan. 08.

awwwwwww that is so sweet. your grandchildren will remember these times for the rest of their lives.
my grandma's brother "Harry".....when we were children, for christmas he would give all of us little girls a small pocket book with some brand new dollar bills in it. He is long gone, I still have such fond memories of him at Christmas time. (& always)
You are creating cherished memories. God bless you.

Sun sign: Gifts for Leo Leos love gifts. They will appreciate more the fact that you thought of them than the actual present. (True!!) However, if you want to make them really happy, buy something of which they could be proud of: a mobile phone, a funny shirt or a pet. (I guess lol) The best colours for Leo are orange-red hues. (I love all colours :P) Gift Ideas: favorite music CDs, concert tickets, electronics, a funny shirt, interior design objects, a pet, something made by you (for example a woven bracelet). I'd be happy with any of those :) Rising: Gifts for Cancer Firstly, the fact that you bought him a present is a sign that you thought of him and this will make the Cancer very happy. (Yes :D) It would be ideal to buy him something he already said he wants- to prove that you are permanently listening to what he says. (Doesn't matter, there are money matters ya know?) In any case, be sure that any gift will bring him great joy, especially because it comes from you. Even if it is a bracelet which he would normally consider a horrible thing, he will wear it with pride, as a proof of your love for him. Anything related to the occult or has a Spiritual touch will surely fascinate him. The color that suits him the best is blue. (Blue actually suits me best) Gift Ideas: a painting, fluffy slippers, a fresh perfume, a book in the series " How to start your own business', a religious icon, a charm, a meditative music CD. I'd be fine with any of them except for a religious icon. I'm not religious

Well aren't you the clever grandma! That sounds like a great idea. Oh the willpower you must have. I have never spent more than I have at Christmas. It must take the fun out of giving for others who go into debt and then have the bills start rolling in. It's counterproductive .
Kids love being able to spend their own money and you get to have a clear conscience . Have a wonderful Christmas!

I think its a great idea. I will have to get gift cards this year for the grandsons and I have 3. The ex started the bank accounts years ago. Kids want "things" and I have no idea what so , the gift card will be just right.
Merry Christmas Baysa!

great gift ideal
but if you could come up with 1k on dec 22th this year you could buy a one year cd -- next dec 22 you would have 1049.50 enough to cover the two extra kids -- figure it out 9 x30 plus 400 is almost 1k that laid around part of this year not working!!! sorry i just like to make money work as hard as it did for you to make it!!! as the year goes by keep collecting the change and you will have enough to replace the CD!!!

What a novel idea. I like it. Do you look for special boxes for
each person on your list? Like something to do with their
likes or hobbies? I was wondering where you'd find little boxes like that. That might be a good idea for next year for
someone I could pass that idea on to.
Thanks for sharing your unique idea.
And here's a star for you today!

Presents from my grandma were usually another home knitted pair of mittens or slippers. They were okay but the slippers hurt to walk in. And kids these days love cash.

i actually think thats a wonderful idea. maybe for the real young ones use it to start funding a college fund or something...it might not be much individually but it will add up...especially if you can find a semi decent interest rate right now. Just a suggestion of course. It has to be tough to think about buying something for a bunch of kids...although thanks to online shopping i guess its easier than it used to be. anyway i think its a good idea and everyone wins!
