I mean...there are some with tons of school records and number one picks that just dont make the transition..Ryan Leaf comes to everyones mind but this Redman kid form Atlanta holds man school records..I know there are only 32 teams in the NFL and a gazillion in college , but is it the system these college QB's were in that made them look good like Kevin Kolb form U of H???

sometimes I wonder how much has to do with the player going to a great team as to one going to a bad team...Could David Carr been good if he had not been the starter for the Texans for at least a season or two..he got killed!

Mainly b/c of the system QB's like Texas Tech, Hawaii, Louisville QB's have been in...and alot of it has to do with the competition they play week in and week out. Sure, Redman was great in college, when he was playing teams who had 1-2 players on defense who had any shot at the NFL TOPS. The teams he played were horrendous. This is why Brohm will fail, this is why Leinart isnt doing so hot, this is why Andre Ware and other Houston QB's have been awful. Then there is the "mobile QB", they fail b/c the NFL is a game where the QB's have to pass first, second, and third, and ONLY run when needed. This is why Vick was terrible, Vince Young is horrific, Crouch was moved, Brad Smith was moved, and any other QB who thinks abt running to much will never succeed in the NFL. There are various reasons. My biggest reasoning is competition they played against and the system they play in, it doesnt prepare them for the real deal, the NFL.

Terrelle Pryor completes about 7-12 each game and has more running yards than the Half Back. Thats not how you build an NFL franchise. I can see Graham Harrell because he wont run it and can throw on the move. Chase Daniel has trouble throwing on the move and that is a must in the NFL. McCoy runs too much but can get the ball to where it needs to be with excelent accuracy. Bradford would be all around pretty good as an NFL QB. I can see him as one. The best ones that I see are Sam Bradford and Graham Harrell.

To put it simply, they are not good enough. The target for a NFL quarterback is much smaller than it is in college ball. The defensive backs are usually much faster and more athletic, therefore the quarterback has to put the ball in a very distinct spot for the reciever to catch it. Also most colleges run a specific system ie: west coast offense. In the pros you do not have a specific system but a compilation of many. In this aspect the QB has to be alot more versatile. Perfect example is Tim Tebow: phenomenal college QB but he will get killed in the pros. Eli Manning is another example, great college QB but an average pro.

NFL QB's have to do so much more than college Qbs. Usually in the NFL, the coverage is a lot tougher. It is very hard to cover somebody who knows exactly what route they're going to do, and have to predict it. Corners and safeties have trouble with this at the college level, but they tend to get a lot better once they get in the NFL> This is tough for new Qb's who don't adjust to the increased difficulties of coverage. Also, Qbs in the NFL have to do a lot more thinking and improvisation. When a QB in college doesn't have his original intended receiver open, he can usually run out of the pocket and get a first down with legs. It's far harder to do so in the NFL, so QBs instead have to move around in the pocket and try to find another receiver.
Plus, in the NFL there is increased pressure and the guys are much bigger. In college there tends to be a lot more time in the pocket.
With the increased skill level of the players, and the increase responsibility and overall knowledge and improvisation of the game a QB needs to be successful, high draft picks tend to become filtered out of the NFL by lack of the ability to adjust to the pro level.

you got to think in div 1 you got 119 first string qbs not counting smaller colleges..take the amount of qbs in college and divide they by the amount of nfl teams and you got your answer..nfl is politices more or less..just look at new england and dallas qbs...never heard of them till the started playing pro...look where greenbay qb came from.uls in la. noone ever heard of him and hes played for 14 years and is going to play next year..look at all the qbs that come back and play another year in the nfl...you only going to have maybe 3 to 4 qbs from college to go to the nfl/// and thats were the big boys play. the nfl dont care what you did in college...except the titans

Pros hit harder
High school and college quarterbacks usually run the ball, only a few NFL quarterbacks can run wiht the ball and not get unloaded on
