Hub or switch both can be used but switches are a little better than the Hubs.
If you are considering using the Hub then the feature I would suggest is the number of ports and the bandwidth of each port. Number of ports because even though it is a small office, you should have extra ports on it for future use as the network extends. Bandwidth because the more the bandwidth faster the applications and your network.
A Hub and Switch both are just plug and play devices, you dont need IT staff to be present at the site .
I hope this answers your question.

I would never use a Hub in an office .. hubs are a security risk (every-one can see all the traffic) plus one user can kill the bandwidth for everyone else by hogging the system ...

Assuming 'normal' office usage (as opposed to SFX Film Studio rendering requirements) I would use an unmanaged (auto-learning) Switch with 100mbs user ports and a GHz uplink to the server.

Hubs have no features, other than the number of ports and possibly auto-crossover function.

An unmanaged switch or a Hub both require virtually no maintenance other then connecting them right in the first place.

I would use a switch for "this" application instead of a hub.

hubs are not used much anymore, get a switch, they're a dime a dozen now a days.
