My honest assessment is that he will not get the nomination. If for no other reason than his Mormon faith.

Despite all of the media attention, his speech did not boost his poll numbers. He still ranks 3rd at best, sometimes 5th. Among other problems, such as awful timing, it simply addressed the wrong question. People are afraid of what they do not know. Is it fair? NO. Does fairness matter this late? No. Contrary to popular belief, it was a far cry from a JFK speech. Where JFK said there should be no religious test, Romney asserts that there should be a religious test, only that he passes it.

He reminds too many people of a continuation of Bush. Rich kid groomed by Daddy to take up the mantle. Having his speech with Bush Sr. was poor positioning in my opinion...

The thing that most gets me is his demeanor under pressure. Watch him confronted with concerns and he lashes out (Giuliani and Romney on the immigration 'scuffle'). I don't love Giuliani...but at least he stands by his views instead of pandering. I have never seen Romney stand up for a single issue, not even a minor one, that did not play towards the Republican base.

I like him a lot. I lived in Utah for a while before the SLC Olympics - when he took over the floundering committee. His leadership was amazing! He got in, got busy and eliminated perks for the committee (like fancy lunches) so they could get back on track. I have since come in contact with a lot of people who attended or participated in the SLC Olympics and some of the other venues. I have never heard a bad report about SLC. They all have said that was the best run Olympics that they'd seen.

He's got great leadership skills. He looks presidential (silly - I know- but in our "media" day, it can play a role) and I have no doubt that he will bring honor - not disgrace - to the White House.

I do not think he is hypocritical. It does appear that he has changed some of his views over time. I do not fault anyone for that. When people have more experiences or more education on any particular point, they often change opinions. (Live and Learn.)

I will definitely vote for him. He's the one guy I am certain I can trust.

I thought his speech was good. I don't understand why people make such a big deal about his religion though.

Out of all the Republicans, I think I would vote for him right now. But will wait to see what is yet to come. I liked his speech a lot.

I think he is a proven executive, which is what you MUST have to be President.

He has pleasant speaking abilities and I agree with his platform.

Many people that are Pro-Life are converts from the "other side." What would be the point of trying to promote this idealism if we didn't want people to switch their previous position??

He reminds me of Ronald Reagan because he is an effective communicator and a relentless conservative. Mike Huckabee has shown that he will NOT stand up to Congress's spending binges and tax hikes. He talks about FairTax which is a decent proposal, but what if that fails? Will he commit to keeping low tax rates for America's prosperity and future?

I didn't like his father as governor and I doubt would like Mitt any better should he win. He's hypocritical for sure, wishy-washy and too conservative for my tastes. His speech about religion was okay but he patterned too many lines after JFK's religion speech.

He is hypocritical
I would not vote for him
His speech was a copy and a disgrace to a great president named John F. Kennedy

He just has no soul and i can tell he is homophobic and a biggot.

I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He's a good man I believe. His Mormonism doesn't bother me. His name is Mitt which is odd but I was a catcher in High School so it's all good.

He flip-flopped on his stances for abortion rights and same-sex marriage to have a better chance in the republican primaries.
Giuliani is a crook and a jerk, but at least he sticks to his true stances.
Romney's speech was somewhat narcissistic, especially when he compared himself to JFK. Overall, its message came out weak and I don't think it helped him much.

Too slick for me. Says the right things, but just gives a general feeling that there's no real "there" there.
