I do feel more uncertain about the future of the US than i did 10 years ago.The major reason is because of all the different things that are happening none in theworld.Like the war in Iraq, terrorist attacks, high levels of crimes(shootings,murders,rapists,killers..),populatly of drugs,alchol...I do feel like the US is losing its status in the world as a political and economic superpowe.Because of all the things happening.I am not sure if it has anything to do with American youth today in terms of math and science.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels less uncertainty than 10 years ago. The reason is that now I can clearly see the conflict that is building in the world. I can see the direction in which events are moving. Obviously we are moving toward a global conflict ("WWIII"). It will be a major upheaval. Now, it is possible that the West will lose, but I don't think so, not this time. So I think there will be increasing war for one or 2 decades, then peace and a burst of prosperity.
I don't think events will move smoothly in a consistent manner, but I do have an idea what I think will happen. That's a decrease in uncertainty in my mind, right?

YES! some of these posters are right on point about the youth and their views and what they think they deserve rather than what they should earn. A huge detertioration of our American society how we put more emphasis on our entertainment rather than important issues (heath care, homeless, unemployed, hunger to name a few. Look who are the higher paid people and more talked about careers of the youth today: Actors, Musicians, Athletes (all a part of the entertainment industry. The middle class worker gets squat for a good hard day's work where the entertainment gets paid big bucks for doing a job most people would PAY to do. Our values have been displaced not on other needs but our own.
We show that we dont care about our neighbor, we live in the "i want what i want and i want it now," This youth is the gimME gimME gimME generation.
when you dont care about others why should they care about you? Giving should be a standard, not receiving.

slightly greater uncertain than 10 years in the past. we are particularly interior the comparable subject, different than the economic gadget exchange into greater advantageous decrease back then. the US is way less respected now interior the civilized international, because of the fact we've completed some issues they do no longer approve of, yet in spite of this, i think of we are greater respected and feared interior the uncivilized international because of the fact we've shown we basically isn't pushed around. i think of what makes me maximum uncertain is the lack of ability of severe questioning skills that prevails in lots of our society. How else are you able to describe that such lots of people who the US exchange into in the back of 9/11 or that Bush is a dictator or like Hitler.

I feel our standard of living will keep sliding because of our free trade policies and lax immigration laws. And I also feel that organizations like the U.N. will grow in power and the U.S. will slowly lose its sovereignty, the EU will also grow in power as the U.S. becomes the United States of Mexico.I don't believe this has anything to do with American youth. It has to do with politicians that don't believe our country is worth protecting through trade and immigration. They don't value our culture as better than others, so they don't try to preserve it.

Yes, I do. It's not all about our spolied, rotten, youths. [I have one, I know] We have become a society that has become soley focused on ourselves. Me-me-me. It's about Americans living beyond their means and only interested in their next "must have" purchase. Egged on by retaliers and credit card company introductory offers that never pan out... On credit, or course. No one is as stupid as the ones who falls into their trap. But so many do. That's why we are in such bad credit card debit. No one looks beyond 30 days when the bill comes due. It has become our way of life. No substance that leads to no future if we don't correct it. You do the math. How long could you live if you spent more than you earned? When you default, who do you think picks up the tab? The rest of us in the form of higher interest rates and fees. Not me - not one credit card. Cash only.

Oh absolutely! It has been run into the ground by the current administration in every way possible and I doubt that it will ever be able to come back from this disaster. As long as the corporations run the US in a way that makes them richer at the expense of the people we can only continue downhill.

yes for sure. things are definatly serious . lots of people got hurt during transitions in society. we went from an agriculture society to a manufacturing society to a technological society and now we have to shift again and we don't know what's next . a lot of workers get caught between these transitions and are not prepared for what is next. think of the workers in your own generation who never touched a computer and the shift to becoming a society that can't do a job without one. every transition has casualties. loss can be big.

Yes to all of your examples except today's youth. I am disappointed in today's youth because they have the attitude that they deserve this or that, that they don't have to work up the ladder but they should start at the top.Today's youth doesn't show alot of maturity or responsibility. It's the, all about me attitude.

Yes, the future of U.S. is much uncertain than 10 years ago.
10 years ago, you still got made-in-U.S. but now all are made-in-China or Made-in-india.
More than 60% of academic journal were written by Chinese, Indian and Pakistanians.
All showed that Americans are locusts.....
If U.S. want a bright future, please contribute more to this world.
