Contrary to popular belief the age of consent(age of legal sex) is not usualy 18 in the United States. The majority of states have an age limit of 16 or 17. Furthormore, many states have a "close in age exception" which allows for young people to consent to sex if the people are only a few years apart. For example, the state of New York has an age of consent of 17. The law there also allows young people with in 3 years of each other to consent to sex. So, 15 and 18 is ok, but not 15 and 20 is not.

statutory rape is when a minor (not of the age of consent for that legal jurisdiction ) has sex with an adult.

This can be an issue in some states for17 yo girls with 18yo + bfs.

generally the law tries to be balanced and will consider the maturity and willingness of the participants as well.

a 17 yo with an 19yo BF is unlikely to be a case they will pusue if both were willing and have a history of sexual intercourse.

a 14 yo with a 20 yo BF is likely to be questioned who are having intercourse.

it comes down to whether the minor has been co-oerced or corrupted by the adult.

There is no "legal age for statutory rape". You would have to check your local laws to see what the age of consent is in your area. I have left an example below, but I am not sure how accurate it is. If you are an adult (18 and up), and engage in sexual acts with a minor below the age of consent, you are subject to prosecution.

It differs between states but in general it is rape if one of the individuals is under 18 and the other is over 18.

I'm worried why you're asking this.

I think it depends on the state you are in, usually if someone is under 16.
