Being raised in repressively religious families is often shown to contribute to violent or sexually inappropriate behavior. Recent studies have shown that people who judge themselves to be deeply moral are the ones more likely to commit immoral acts, as they can justify them based on morality.

It's not TYPICAL for murderers to come from deeply religious families, but it's not unusual either. When people are forced to grow up in a very strict, controlling religious household, it's not uncommon for them to grow into adults who harbor a deep rage for all people who profess to be religious.
