I just got a prescription from my gyn for the minipill today, and she told me to wait until my next period to start taking it. I'm definitely going to listen to her cause she knows best and all that, but what's the difference if I wait until my next period or if I start taking it now? Thankkkss in advance homies.

also i read that the mini pill is less effective than the combination .. my risks of getting pregnant are almost non existant if we use the withdrawal method as well, right?

Well the mini pill is prescribed for breastfeeding mothers how normally are having periods. What you are talking about is quick start and many women do it.,

Quick Start--With this method, start on any chosen day, regardless of menstrual cycle. Users of this method are protected from pregnancy after they have correctly taken 7 active pills/days of hormones correctly

The mini pill is the one you have to take at the exact same time every day. I guess withdrawal will help.

You can start taking it now or wait until your period, it doesn't matter. It just if you start now, it work be effective for a week. The minipill is inherently is just as effective as the combo pills, but you have a smaller window of time to take each dose. For combos, you actually have up to 12 hours, but for the minipill, you have only 3 hours before it stops working.

Well it'll basically work WITH your own natural cycle. If you start taking it now, it won't be effective for 2 cycles and it can mess your cycle up.

Definitely wait, then it's effective when you start the 2nd pack. You can start it on the first day of your period or on a certain day of the week (many pick sundays) after your period starts.
