Not going to get much colder in the UK - but theres a thick cover of frost on our smoking shelter at work (and I'm freezing haveing just come in from there)

I guess I have two answers to your question.
Yeah, it can get colder. Right now in Tampa it's about 65 and plunging --- might get down to 59 tonight! DRAT, I hate having to wipe the heavy dew off the car windows every morning.
Second, have you heard of the Kelvin temperature scale? It uses "absolute zero," which is somewhere below -400 F, and measures temps down to the point where ALL atomic activity CEASES. Now, that is DEAD cold. You in hell's furnaces, by comparison.

It's supposed to drop to 16 degrees later and we are still getting freezing rain so yes

The low for the night usually occurs around 4 or 5 am...so in most cases, yes.
