I've heard that there is a great need, but i've also heard the contrary and that its hard to find a job as a court interpreter.

There is a need, but it is not a very well paid position. The interpreters in Los Angeles County just went out on strike, and lost miserably. If you are fluently bi-lingual, with the ability for simultaneous translation, I think you could find a better job than court interpreter.

From the influx of immigrants from Mexico and all over Central and South America it would seem logical that many court interpreters would be required. Since that liberal state has done little to stem the flow, let it be their problem. We have enough in CT with Senator Dodd and Mayor DeStefano of New Haven.
