I don't think that a gift or reward for voting is a good idea. This will result in people voting just because they want the gift and not because they take the responsibility of voting seriously. We need voters to take time to think about their vote. The only reward that should be recieved for voting is the fact that you did your patriotic duty and tried to improve America by voting for the candidate who you think is best for our country.

Isn't the reward the ability to participate in free and open elections without fear of action against you or your family? The only reward I would like is the same one I continually try to vote for: someone that will be honest, do their job and represent this nation in a positive manner to help it achieve its potential.

I already have been given a gift for voting. Actually, every person that votes has also given that gift to all citizens of the U.S. It's called FREEDOM

Just being able to vote is gift enough for me.
Though living in the bluest state my red vote never really means much.

A politician who doesn't lie, one who represents the people who put him/her into power, and one who doesn't take from the poor to give to the rich. My reward would then be a happy life with all of the benefits of being an American and a darn proud one.
I lived in Europe for the last ten years, and we are the laughing stock of Europe with our President who thinks Iraq is Texas and all we have to do is draw guns all day and talk big.

I get to make my voice heard AND receive a gift?
Actually, that might be a good way to produce incentive to go out and vote.

Not a thing. Ideally, no one would vote except for people who know as much about the candidates and issues as I do.

I'd want it to count as a single vote, and not be balanced by some dead guy or illegal aliens vote against my candidate.
