Yes, I do that every now and then...just to make certain none of my contacts have been deleted.
I think that you're right about some contacts having nothing in common with each other...but some are actually friends with each other.

Some have things in common, or I find they have some of the same contacts I have. But for the most part my contacts appeal to me and connect to me for different reasons.

Don't take any contacts. Had a troll awhile back making picking on them so deleted them. Any contacts I did have stay in touch via e-mail (not through Y!A)

most times I check there q&a if I'm not familiar with them and see how they even seen me and why
and when i add them it's because they're people who I think are interesting,funny,nice,ect.
some are opposites of me and some amaze me by how much we're alike
