Tigers : .287 team batting order, 177 HR'S 857 RBI's, .345 OBP, .458 SLG, 103 SB'S.

The overall numbers arent so close with the Yankees winning. But, please note that with Miguel on the team the HR's and RBI's could be even closer then ever.

The Yankees lineup doesnt even compare. The Tigers lineup has an absolute stud mixture of speed, clutch, RBI machines, and overall sluggers. The Yankees are a hit and miss...Damon is awful, Melky isnt that great, Posada put up career numbers it wont happen again, Matsui is on a down slope, Abreu is on a HUGE down slope...that team doesnt even compare get serious. The only good thing about it is ARod is the greatest hitter ive ever seen and Cano is a good young hitter.

The Tigers, ha...wow...Magglio can do it all up there and hit .360's last season, Miguel Cabrera is the best YOUNG hitter in the game, Granderson will continue to get better and thats scary (better hitter than Reyes), Ivan had an "off" year dont expect that again, Polanco will hit .320 or better guaranteed, Renteria is good with the stick, and Sheffield is still a bomber and one of the most dangerous guys with a stick in all of baseball.

Get real...

You sound like your calling out all the Tigers "fans" the ones who are always biased towards the Tigers and pretend they know everything.

You my friend, sound like a Yankees "fan" someone who always think there team is better. Sounds like your being a hippo-crite...

You mention the Yankees bench. What about the Tigers bench? Lets see, Marcus Thames, Vance Wilson, Ramon Santiago, Ryan Rayburn, do those names mean nothing to you?

Since you went through the entire line-up, so will I.

Curtis Granderson: Great leadoff guy. 23 triples, 23 homers, 20 stolen bases, 20 doubles. Yea I don't see anyone on the yankees putting up those kinda numbers. And hes an amazing center fielder.

Placido Polanco: Great offensively. Look at his numbers. .341, 9 homers, 67 rbi! Oh but lets not forget his defense. Hes now the record holder for most consecutive errorless games for a 2B.

Gary Sheffield: Injured. Still hit timely home runs and a ton of RBI's. If it wasn't for injury. It's safe to say Shef could of had 40 homers and 100 RBI no problem. But he's not afraid to take his walks either.

Magglio Ordonez-- OH BOY! What can you say about the guy? .363, 28 HR's 139 RBI's. He used the entire field. He goes the other way when needed and great defensively. Plus his hair is amazing lol :P. Magglio, enough said.

Carlos Guillen: Great numbers as a shortstop. Even through injuries. With the movement towards first base, look for him to get bigger and better numbers.

Miguel Cabrera: The other Magglio. Great average of .320, great power numbers and good defensively. What can you say about this guy that isn't already known?

Edger Renteria: Hit a solid .332 with 12 homers and 57 RBI's but hes really solid defensively. He's like a Placido Polanco. Can never have to many of those guys around.

Jacques Jones: He had an off year. So the Tigers are hoping. But even if he is a bust, the Tigers still have Marcus Thames who is a very solid replacement. Or maybe its vice versa, Jones will replace Thames. Either way, a lethal combination.

Ivan Rodriguez: He his a career .300 hitter. But the Tigers have enough solid bats. They need him to defend more than anything.

The lineups are basically comparable right now. Who can honestly say what kind of year each player will have? Sheffield and Posada could easily slow down next year at their respective ages. Matsui could be a San Francisco Giant. Damon's pretty beat up. Renteria sucked on his last tour of the AL. what about injuries?

The biggest difference is the pitching. I don't see how the Yanks match the Tigers there, even with their young studs. It takes time for pitchers to develop.

The only thing for sure is that it'll be a long season. 162 games. I think the Tigers pitching will put them ahead of the Yankees, but we'll see.

Lets take into account where they play

Yankee Stadium is a much better hitters park than Comerica park.

LF wall - NY-318, DET 345
CF wall - NY - 408 DET-420
RF wall - NY - 314 DET - 330

so even if Detroit's hitters are better, their numbers will be slightly deflated playing in a much more pitcher friendly comerica park.

not to mention Miguel Cabrera is just entering his prime and A-Rod is getting towards the end of his prime

and i like how you post LAST YEARS numbers to show yankees are better, but the Tigers had huge upgrades to that lineup

Miguel Cabrera over Brandon Inge=huge upgrade in hr and average
Edgar Renteria over Sean Casey(with Guillen to first) = another ugrade in HR and average
Jacque Jones over Craig Monroe/Marcus Thames = another huge upgrade to average, with a slight power downgrade(Thames is still on team)

I dont know how you could post those numbers then use last years stats, people are saying this teams numbers are better than this years yankees

EDIT - come on now, this may be dumbest post EVER

"The Yankees are better in EVERY OFFENSIVE CATOGORY. Average, SB'S, OBP, SLG, HR, RBI's...."

so what about last year, the Tigers didnt have Edgar Renteria, Jacque Jones or Miguel Cabrera last year and had the offensive black hole of Brandon Inge in those stats. You using those stats from last years teams to prove your point about next years team has to be nominated for dumbest post of the year

Ok, everybody needs to shut up about A-rod. I am sick of hearing it. He's not that bad. Hes not the reason a whole organization cant put together a winning team. His numbers can only help the team. As for his clubhouse demeanor, It cant be that bad either because the players arent complaining and he seems to have a smile on his face 90% of the time. So everybody just let it go about A-rod. Hes probably better than anyone on any other team.

Now to answer your question. The tigers arent better on paper. I think they will have a really strong year as will the Yankees. Also, Damon and Giambi will not be on the bench. They don't get paid that money to be on the bench and if they are thats why the Yankees are losing. They overpay for washed up Red Sox stars to sit on the bench and deteriorate. I have always hated Giambi and they only time I can understand why the Yankees still have him is when he hits about 5 HRs a game off of Wakefield. Also if the yankees spend that much money on Bench players thats why the pitching sucks. I am deffinatley not a fan of the Yankees and I hate saying this, but, I like watching the Yankees contend because it makes the Red Sox v. Yankees games that much more interesting. I may have sounded like I was saying how the yankees are terrible but, no, thats not what I was saying at all. They contend every year and battle through alot of adversity. It seems like every year a key player(s) goes down with some kind of injury that handicaps the team for months. And no one could have predicted the Carl Pavano escapade. That guy was the biggest waste of money anyone has ever spent (this is arguable).

Cabrera will contend for the MVP next year since he will be protected in the lineup. Sheffield's numbers are low since he was hurt a lot last year. Expect everyones #'s to be better with him in the line-up and with a healthy Sheffield. Posada had a year better than I expect next year. Damon is real beat up and so is Giambi not to mention Giambi doesnt have the Roids that made him an MVP.

Wow, is all I have to say. Miguel Cabrera is going to have a MONSTER year. In Florida he played national league style ball. American league, especially Jim Leyland, style of ball will bring out the best in Cabrera. 45+ Homers and 140 RBI, easy. Depending on your idea of a good lineup, they both are good. Tigers have better table setters, and with their ability to handle the bat they will be hardest offense to stop. Yankees with hit most homers, big whoopie, Tigers will have more wins. And Cabrera will have more playoff hits in his first year as a tiger as A-Rod has in his entire Yankees playoff career.

Look dude, I don't really think you have a legitimate argument. The Tigers, unlike the Yankees, have a bottom of the lineup ok Ivan Rodriguez, Jacque Jones and Carlos Guillen. Wow that's awesome. Also, you're taking stats from last year, when the RBI's were in favor of the Yankees. This year, Miggy and Renteria's hits will drive in a lot more runs than they did in Florida and Atlanta.

The Tigers lineup is better than the Yankees due to the statistics being very similar; and the Yankee lineup being old. The Tigers are a younger team and have better pitching.

La Troy Hawkins wears down earlier every year and gets whiplash watching al the HR's sail past him so quickly.
