She just called and said I am not aloud to go to Hot Topic anymore! I don't even buy the gothic stuff. Ugh. What is her problem with Hot Topic?

At least Hot Topic doesn't put racial comments on t-shirts and sells them, unlike what Abercrombie and Fich did... They should be out of buisness - or better yet sewed!

She might not like the idea of Hot Topic--dark, gothic, counter-culture--but to be honest, H.T. really isn't any of those things; it's just a store that tries to be. If you go to Hot Topic for their cute, unique stuff, try going to places like thrift stores and swap meets--you'll find a lot of similar things, but for cheaper--and it won't be what everyone else has either. However, if you don't want to leave Hot Topic behind, try asking your mom to come with you there so you can show her what you like--it might make her change her mind.

If you don't by clothes that are gothic then i guess you can find that in another store. What the sense. Should you really get into this huge fight with your mom because you can't shop at a certain store. Obviously she hates the idea of the foolishness that is printed on some of the clothes. Get a clue. Non-goth stuff that you will by can be sold in other stores. STOP SHOPPING THERE.

well if u go shopping with her i could see where this creats a problem.... but if u don't and u go with some friends and shes not there then how will she know if u've been there or not and if u buy something take it out of the hot topic bag and put it in another so hse don't know

alot of parents think it causes bad influences. my mom thank god is fine with the stuff i wear but my best friends mom told her that she wasn't allowed to wear band t-shirts from there because they were "butchy". just ask your mom what she doesn't like about what you buy there and come to a compromise. most people who work there are nicer than the people in the whole mall shes probably just intimidated by how they look.

Sweetheart, it doesn't matter WHAT is wrong with Hot Topic. Your mom said, "no!" and she's trying to protect you from something she believes may be harmful to you.
You don't agree with her, that's true. But trust that she loves you more than anyone else on the planet. That gives her the right to steer you in the right direction. Give her a kiss before you go to bed tonight.

Be mature about it and start shopping somewhere else.
I'm not a fan of Hot Topic either- it is a horrible store. I wouldn't want my children dressing like that anyways (all black, chains on everything, etc).

you need to ask your mom what is her reasoning....parents get bad ideas from hot topic by its appearance, depending on what you wear, could be the reason. sit down and ask her though:)

it's not the store...it's the fact that her lil girl is shopping there.
i'm going threw the same thing w/ my mom....if that's your main store....tell ur friends to buy u stuff from there 4 Christmas...just dont let her kno where its from.
