Because a corporation is beholding to its shareholders and not the larger public.
Moises Naim wrote an interesting editiorial in Foreign Policy magazine to this effect about four months ago. Often times in the calculus about whether or not to offer TIF or other corporate incentives we include charitable donations. There is a reason why we see the corporate sponsor front and center when it comes to charity. Corporations want to create the image of benevolence, whether that image is an accurate portrayal of reality is beside the point.
If we want corporations to pay Americans higher wages, we cannot expect them to do this without governmental compulsion. Write your legislatures and tell them how you feel.
Finally, if we want higher wages, we need to be prepared to pay higher costs for our products.

one of the people that answered stated that a corporation is beholden to its shareholders, and not the public. This is not true as a corporation is not a person and as such has no rights but instead can be granted powers or priveleges by the people of a nation. The same powers and priveleges we grant to these corporations can be taken back. We seem to have a large number of individuals confusing our democratic form of a republic with capitalism. Corporations were originally intended for nothing more than exempting individuals from bankruptcy liability, and ensuring accumulation of sufficient capital to start large project no individual could finance. There is no legal, or moral conflict when a society rallies against corporate powers and decides to destroy them when they prove a burden on said society, as they have proven themselves in this country at this time.

Why is buying cheap products, more inportant than your loyality to your country ?

Thr reason american textile mills shut down, was that americans were buying less expensive foreign made clothing, instead of paying a little more, to buy american made clothing.

So who is at fault, the companies that moved overseas for cheaper labor, or the americans who wanted to save a buck and stopped buying american made products ?

We have looked in the mirror and seen the enemy, and he is us.

Americans want cheap products, and well paying jobs in America.

Well we cannot have both.

When americans stopped buying Levi blue jeans, because imported blue jeans were $5.00 cheaper,

Whose fault was it, that Levi's closed thier american plants down and moved to mexico ?

I say it was the american consumers fault.

To many americans seem to want the government to pass a law, forbidding them from buying imported products, instead of just, not buying them on thier own.

We are one of the few countries in the world, where people will not buy locally made products over imports.

the only concept that I even have on the difficulty of unfastened commerce is to bypass returned to the way it replaced into in the previous. workers here can not compete with the low wages that are paid in China and different international places. I additionally ask your self what that's costing our environment for those style of things to be shipped returned to the USA. regrettably our governments (Canada secure) won't bypass returned to a tariff device because it somewhat is the efficient pastimes that carry greater sway. they at the instant are not on the ingredient of displaced workers. Hmmm, i ask your self how many substandard products we are able to be receiving as nicely or if we are able to be poisoned with the help of a few product produced in China the place they have not got a similar standards as we do for well-being and risk-free practices. all people keep in mind the puppy nutrition scare awhile returned?

It is called financial survival. You can blame corporate America for sure but you also need to blame everyone that likes the affordable prices they offer on goods and services. Kick out the 12/20 million illegal aliens and watches prices of some things soar.

The free market is awesome. Outsourcing does not harm America in the least. In fact, it helps us a great deal.

Society evolves. Yes, some people will lose their jobs as a result, but they will find new ones and life goes on. The industrial revolution was the foundation of modern society and was one of the most awesome things in history. However, a lot of skilled workers were put out of jobs because of it (as unskilled labor could do things cheaper in factories).

It is all about money. The politicians and leaders of this country don't really give a rat's rearend about the common people. Money, violence, hate, and sexual perversion is all that the Illuminati cares about. Hell is definately going to be chalked full of souls.
