It is very rude and inappropriate to make fun of anyone regardless of their sexual orientation.
Inappropriate talk and behavior should be reported to the appropriate school authorities.

in this world i have found there are three kinds of people.
idiots- weather through pressure at home or a low IQ these people very rarely change. they do what is natural for them fear and hate they are not worthy of our anger only our pity.
ex. Fred Phelps, jimmy swaggart, ted haggard, etc.
the enlightened- these people are Honorable do gooders. always looking for a cause they flutter from one cause to another rarely accomplishing anything, but when they do they rock the world. ex. gandi, mlk, LBJ, JFK, mother Jones horerable fools all who could have had a much longer and quieter life if they had only looked the other way when they saw suffering.
the outraged stealth majority- these people know what is right but don't do it. constantly worried about what other people will think they accomplish nothing. do nothing. and generally just take up space.
now to answer your question. anything you do now will ring false and hollow the only thing you will accomplish by acts of commiseration will be to appease your guilt. but what about next time?

It's nice too see someone in high school (you) being so mature and understanding. At my school it was the same way for a while, we're all in grade 12 now so most people have gotten over the whole "making fun of those who are different" stage. I'm bi and I was teased for a while... It would have been nice to have someone stick up for me... Maybe try to befriend her? Show her that not everyone is against her:) .

I agree with you. That is why many people hide from being gay or lesbian. You're right, everyone has their own right to like whatever gender they please...if you are friends with any of the girls, maybe you should ask them why they do it. Some people are just mean, though. If you can't say anything to the girls, maybe say something to the lesbian....such as "I accept you for who you are, there is no need to listen to them." It will most likely help you feel better if you speak your mind.

I am glad that someone can see the person behind the mask of being different, see them as a human. You can't stop ignorance, and sometimes it seems as if the majority of the human race is ignorant. I sometimes hate the human race for what they force some people who are different! I wish everyone in this world who would make fun of people for being different would be inflicted with blindness so they can't judge people by their looks. I know I sound like a nut-job right now but its what I feel.

Well people have had it engrained into their heads. I have a freind who is nervous around black people cause thats the way she was raised to be. Plus it is HIGHSCHOOL. It's teen drama! This comming from a girl who was on the cheer squad, a third, and a lezzie. I got alot of crap in highschool. But it also all depends on PDA and that stuff, I mean I dont wanna see straight people makin in the halls, why would I wanna see gay people makin in the halls?

I agree, those people have no right to treat a lesbian that way so dont be scared to stand up for her and you dont have to be guilty you will feel proud of yourself after you help that person and might make a friend if you want to be a friend with her!!!

I'm straight, but I totally agree with everything you've said. Usually people who make fun of others for being gay are usually gay themselves and are compensating for it. These girls are probably dealing with their own issues and are picking an "easy" target to make themselves feel better. I'd say you should confront the girl who they were making fun of, establish that you are straight so she doesn't get the wrong idea later on and try to be friends with her. It'd be good for this girl to have someone she can talk to and for her to have someone who can defend her and make her feel better.
Good on you, BTW!

Just tell them to grow up. Tell them your immature kids and need to realize that others have feelings. And they shouldn't be biased on sexual orientation. Speak up and defend the Gays and Lesbians. I am straight too but I would stand up for them if someone was putting them down.

True and you like most of the people in the world. People do the same thing to gay people in my school and it's wrong but maybe somwday people will be better. Talk to her and try to make her feel better.

Thankfully you are becoming an adult. Most people your age think they are but are not. Making fun of people who realize that they are gay is simply unrealistic and cruel. Try to maintain your decency and understanding because high school end faster than you can imagine.
