With my daughter its always been one of those wonderful makeup cases with tons of different eyes shadows and lip glosses and things like that in it, and a bath set, with herbal bath products and something like a bath brush or a loofa in it. And of course the socks ..... I missed one year and that was a mistake !

She counts on it every year - and was so dissapointed when she didnt get either one year. I thought she would be tired of them. But apparently not.

The evil step mother always does underwear, toothbrushes, toothpaste etc and the kids count on that too.

Now why on earth would yahoo think this belongs under pregnancy?

It's that old "expecting" thing ... must be pregnant! But, to answer your question, every year my husband gives everyone slippers. With each new addition to the family, another pair of slippers is purchased at Christmas. This year he even bought slippers for the baby that is due in January! He's up to an even dozen pairs of slippers this year!

Well just because for the last several years we've always
gotten a combination gift from our daughter and SIL that is
related to my computer, we've tended to expect something
new or newer than what I have had. This year, I need a new
keyboard, and speakers, and have not given them a list of
things I need. Maybe it's time? Last year I was expecting
something new or newer and we got a brand new microwave
instead of something for the computer. I just stared at the box
in disbelief. Thinking something else, had to be inside. So
this year, I am not going to expect anything in particular, and
I will probably be surprised. And maybe as much as last year.
That was the first time they've ever been so generous. We
still have a hard time believing it a year later.

I request the new "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"(TV show) calender every Christmas and usually get it (I collect them and other Buffy' items). The 2 times no one got it for me I bought my own-- after New Years Day and at a discount. For me it's not a big deal, just fun! Traditionally, we've usually put a new toothbrush in our 3 childrens' stockings also, ( we still fill stockings for them , even tho' the youngest is 22 and the oldest-29- is married and not living with us anymore) and when we didn't give them one a couple of years ago, they were disappointed!

Yes, my older brother gets his 5 grand Christmas bonus every year. Too bad he doesn't need it and would spread it around a little, but stingy is his middle name. He should have been named Scrooge or Nicholas Scrooge or something. Then his middle name would be something he could either live up to or down to whenever he wished.

Every Christmas, my best girlfriend gives me gift cards. She started it because I am hard to buy for and she wanted to get me something I'd really like. She doesn't have a lot of time to shop. She keeps asking me if I mind getting gift cards AGAIN. Mind, I love them. She gives me gift cards for the movies, Michael's craft stores, and/or Whole Foods Market. I love getting a gift I can use, doesn't take up room in my small apartment, doesn't expire or spoil, doesn't contain any calories, and doesn't have to be returned because it is the wrong size or color. Happy Holidays to you!

All four of my grandchildren receive new pajamas every Christmas. They receive them and wear them on Christmas Eve. My daughter-in-law started this tradition when they were very young and they love it. So do I.
(They are 20, 17, 14 and 10)

My mother was a "collector". Every Christmas for as long as I can remember, my mother would give me a toothpick holder and my brother would get an egg cup. That is it. Nobody believes this story until I show them the boxes full of toothpick holders, or they meet my mother.

That is also what we would receive for our birthdays, graduations and other occasions.

Real presents came from my grandparents.

I always give my Dad a new piece for his Christmas in the City collection and I always give my Step dad a Snowbaby. Because there are so many to choose from it is still sort of a surprise.

My husband always gets a big box of chocolate covered cherries from his mother. Has since he was a young boy. He looks forward to them.

my youngest daughter expects chocolate covered cherries the dollar store variety. One year she did not get them and was heartbroken now I make sure to buy and wrap them early. The other kids had it much harder and anything was a delight.
