Iguanas are social reptiles, first make sure that you have a 100 watt light bulb on it during the same time that the sun is out outside, they just love to bask in it, they love 90 degrees whether, and they also like humidity, they love hot and humid so you may want to spray water on them though the day, and they need powdered calcium sprinkled on their food without that they will die, if all this fails get it another iguana. If you notice it shaking and trembling as it is walking that's a sign, it needs the powdered calcium now because it's already dying. I had iguanas for years and I've seen them die like this, and I've seen them survive with what I'm telling you .

If it is a "she" it could be about to have eggs. My ig acts weird when she's about to lay eggs. They do not have to be around a male iguana to lay eggs, they just wont be fertile. If she feels really plump in the middle that could be the reason. Also make sure you have the proper lighting (UVB) etc, and has access to water to soak and drink.

I owned an iguana as quickly as earlier. i does no longer propose letting it roam loose. they might desire to have countless warmth and basking components. you does no longer have the skill to get your abode to the sumptuous temperature. and that they might truthfully be injury by way of the different animals. or you may no longer see it and step on it on accident. there are distinctive issues that would desire to bypass incorrect. and that they at the instant are not the form of puppy which you will potty prepare or something so it is going to easily potty the place ever it sounds like it. I strongly propose which you shop it in a tank. or you may build your man or woman cage for it. Use %pipe and twine mesh. That way it could climb and characteristic countless room to roam around in. in simple terms ensure you provide it one cool area and one heat and a shelf to bask on.

Are you keeping it warm enough? Have a good UVA/UVB bulb on him during the day? Is he getting proper food? If all that is fine, he needs a vet very soon.

So much depends on cage size, heating used, UVB quality/age, diet, water availability, etc. Please read over the care sheets at this site and see if you meet all the requirements.

from November until April it is their mating season......keep them warm enough too. After all it is Winter......if it is tame enough---find it some other iguanas to socialize with.....couldnt hurt.....give 'em chin rubs from me :)
