These days, you would have to live in a hole not to know someone who has. What is worse are deaths that were unintentional, such as car accidents. When I was in high school, 2 of my guy friends were driving too fast to school, hit a pothole and flew into a tree, The truck was wrapped around the tree and was not even touching the ground an any point. That is more sad to me that a suicide.

When I was a child my mother found a neighbor lady hanging in her living room. When I was in high school my best friend's mother shot herself. When I was a freshman in college my roommate committed suicide and I found him when I returned from the library one night. When I was thirty one of my friends jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and I and some others had to ID his body on Xmas Eve day. Most recently my uncle decided he had lived long enough and he starved himself to death.

A few kids that went to my school, luckily I didn't know them. I hope my actual friends are happy enough with their lives that they wouldn't consider suicide the answer. Suicide is selfish, just because you don't have to live with the consequences doesn't mean you were a good person...

They could have gone in for counseling but many are afraid and do not want to be known as quitters while alive. Some people cannot take the mental strain and the drill instructors should be able to identify people with problems and make referrals. Better to get them help and discharged than find them dead. Military should be held accountable.

In a way a guy I knew committed suicide. He got into drugs and got died because of them.

my ex aunt first she jumped off a bridge into the grass it didnt kill her- then when she was in the "boobie hatch" she jumped out the window that killed her
a friend that worked at KFC she hanged herself with a bathroom belt of the balcony
a 13 year old neighbors girl - she hung herself with a jumprope ' she hated her step dad
a bakery worker i knew
she killed herself with pills- she had uncurable tinnitus
