It has to do with the rotation of those planets. For instance, Jupiter is one of the fastest rotating planets, completing a full rotation in a little less than 10 hours. A faster rotating planet will have a shorter day, while a slower rotating planet will have a longer day.

On the other hand, an orbit is how long it takes for the planet to go around the sun. The further from the sun a planet it, the longer it takes to go around the sun.

It all depends on how long it takes for the planet to complete 360 degrees around it's axis... Some planets rotate faster than others, some rotate slower than others...

Earth takes 23 hours 59 minutes and 4 seconds to rotate around it's axis where as some planets (such as jupiter, as described in a previous answer) may take as little as 10 hours.

Just as an interesting note, 1 "Day" on Venus is longer than 1 "year" on venus. In other words, Venus takes longer to rotate around it's axis than it does to make one complete orbit around the sun.

The length of day depends on how long it takes the planet to do one complete rotation which causes the rising and setting of the sun which constitute a day. I think it's cause some other planets spin faster or slower than the earth.

its because they spin around their axis (poles) faster or slower than we do.

the orbit refers to how long its year is.

neither really have much to do with their distance to the sun.

why do the spin differently? I'm not really sure.

?depends on whether or not the planet was hit by other objects during its life time?

They rotate at different rates than the Earth does. Day length is related to rotation rate.

they have different orbits around the sun, (further/Closer too it)
