Truly, all who are, or have, served/serving are soldiers who I would respect.

No, because while the troops may be on the front lines, the fact is they don't have the perspective of those overseeing everything. A soldier giving out candy to kids and getting hugs in return in one part of Iraq is going to support the war, whereas the soldier getting shot at every day and seeing American flags being burnt might understand that not every country needs to be a "democracy". You also need to factor in that only about 20-30% of the armed forces have a college education, so might not have the political or "big picture" understanding, thus the support of overly simplistic views like "We are the world police".
Would I be more interested in what those working in the UN and Pentagon (who aren't under Bush's thumb) have to say about the candidates? Absolutely. Having been exposed that environment, I can tell you that there are a large and growing number of officers and other officials who are less inclined to vote Republican at this point. Seeing combat doesn't equate to being familiar with the issues or the big picture, nor does it mean that you're more inclined to research further or educate yourself (trust me, very few of the troops that I've met or worked with at the bases I've been to have shown otherwise). Seeing combat means you've seen combat and are familiar with your duties/what your commander has passed down to you.
Please also bear in mind that by aligning yourself with the troops in an election (e.g., basing your vote off of who you think is "their" choice), you are effectively voting single-issue, which is an extremely ignorant way to vote. The troops, like any other voter, are looking out for their own interests and expectations, and what's good for them is not necessarily what's best for America. Among the young (and even not-so-young) enlisted I've worked with, a popular notion is that we should just go ahead and blow away anyone that disagrees with us (put basically in those words over and over again). We may have brave boys on the front, but there is a reason they are not in charge.
Anyone who makes assumptions that the majority of troops are going out of their way to learn about more than they need to and is basing their vote on who they support really needs to re-evaluate their decision making strategies.
BTW, I'd be extremely interested to see your source for your "fact" that Ron Paul is the military candidate of choice, as to my knowledge, no formal or reputable survey has been done to determine this.

I intend to. As I understand it, Ron Paul has more support in the military than any other candidate. And I'm 100% for Ron Paul!

I know alot of personnel in the military..NONE of them want Hitlery or Osama in office! Period! Oprah is nothing. Our soldiers on the front lines opinion means much more to ME!
Izzat7: You are a moron! Many of the troops that have been injured or maimed still want to go back to fight or support their fellow troops! You have obviously not been in the military! The majority of vets always support the troops!

I think it is really important to stay informed. What John Kerry, and Geraldo Riviera has done in Afganistan has jeopardized lives in the past....I can't believe they let him into Iraq....Some veterans never forget!

No, I vote for my conscience, values and morals. I support our troops and love them, but won't let them tell me how to vote. Gasp, they might support Hillary.

Let's ask the vets that come home maimed for life and their government doesn't even help them out, are they the troops you are talking about?
