At my job we get a half day on the 24th and have to work either Dec 31 or Jan 1 (they pick who works what day).

Define "most?"

Most companies (are small), no. Most employees (in large groups work of big companies and government), maybe.

My opinion is "no." I think 7 days is "standard," meaning most common: New Years, Memorial, Independence, Labor, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, & Christmas. On the other hand, I know of several large companies that have 14.

Yadda. Yadda. Yadda.

My company has 10 days and it does NOT include Dec 31.

The VAST majority of companies, and employees for whoever split their answer, DO NOT have these days off. Currently, I would not bet on 'most' having both Dec 25 and Jan 1 off.

Depends who you work for. I am off 24th Dec but I'm working all day on Hogmany (31st January). Also working 1st Jan all day although getting double time as classed as bank holiday. Last 2 years had to work on boxing day 10 - 6 (my turn off this year). Job's I've had before have been working Xmas eve & day, also new years eve & day (pub & restaurant work) just depends. I would just like to add it's a fab time of the year & you can make the most of it if your working everyone in good mood etc. Make the most of it & bring Xmas to work - wear a santa hat, have some misletoe ready, kiss everyone!

Many companies will give December 25th and January 1st off. Since the "Eves" are not technically holidays, there are a lot of companies that do not give that day off. It really depends on the company you work for. For example, fast food restaurants and retail stores probably won't give it off, but banks and offices are likely to give the day off.

define "maximum?" maximum companies (are small), no. maximum workers (in super communities paintings of massive companies and government), consistent with possibility. My opinion is "no." i think of seven days is "known," which means maximum trouble-free: New Years, Memorial, Independence, hard paintings, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, & Christmas. on the different hand, i understand of a number of super companies that have 14. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda. My enterprise has 10 days and it would not comprise Dec 31.

I am not an office worker so I was either given the choice of working it and getting extra pay or taking it off and not getting anything extra but regular holiday pay on the 25th. I chose to work it so that others with small kids could have it off. I get double time for Xmas day!
