Visible light is the region of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths from 0.00000035 meters (violet light) to 0.00000075 meters (red light). Light usually travels in a straight line path, but it can be scattered by particles such as the nitrogen molecules in the Earth's atmosphere. This means that portions of the light energy are sent off into different directions. These directions are determined by the size of the wavelength of the light and the size of the particles doing the scattering. For the Earth's atmosphere, the effect is strongest in the shortest wavelengths; the effect is very small at longer wavelengths. The scattering is dominant for the wavelength that we see as blue, and this is why the sky appears blue.

The blue color of the sky is due to Rayleigh scattering. When light moves through the atmosphere, the majority of the longer wavelengths pass straight through and very little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air. However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. and the absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky this is what is left behind and why the sky appears to be blue in nature.. Hope it helped !!

The truth of the matter is that the sky isn't blue. It's just that our atmosphere reflects all of the light bouncing off the earth (much of it from the sun), and the wavelength of blue light is what bounces back most readily.

The sky is blue because as the sun light reflects of the water, all the colours in the light spectrum are bounced back up.Blue is the shortest wave length, hence that is the colour we see.

it is the way the suns light hits the earth. white light is made of the colors of the rainbow including blue. the way the angle is makes the sky blue. we learned this in science. it isnt th water because then areas further inland would be less blue.
