Because, by & large Americans have stopped worshiping God and started worshiping celebrities. Think about it. How much time does the average American spend either in front of the TV or @ the movies? And then how much time spent in church or @ church related activities?

To me it is as Romare suggests, there is too much of the cult of personality in this country and it spills over into important areas such as politics. Look at the publications that confront you when you are checking out of a supermarket. They are either telling you about alien invasions, how to loose weight, or what is happening in the lives of the rich and famous. The latter type of publication enjoying the lion's share of shelf space. There are far too many shows like that "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" that occupy our time. It is built into our culture. And too often we can not disengage from it when making decisions that are important. When that happens in politics it is unfortunate. But it doesn't have to be a television celebrity like Oprah or movie star like Chuck Norris. It can be sports figures or celebrity clergy.
Good or bad, it works so people will keep on doing it. It does provide an edge and sways people.

I certainly don't care what Hollywood or TV Land celebrities think about anything. They're mostly the biggest pile of flakes in America. You can add Alec Baldwin, George Clooney, Jane Fonda, Robert Redford, Bono ... with Oprah.
Sad to say, the average person is dumb as a box of rocks ... that includes Americans too. That's why celebrity endorsements work.

I think it a bunch of junk! I don't care who a celebrity endorses, their opinion matters little to me, I pay no attention to who has endorsed who! Celebrities are no brighter than anyone else, like I would be really empress by an endorsement by Paris Hilton, you bet! As for Oprah, well, I never liked her show, so her endorsement means nothing as far as I'm concerned. I wish Obama hadn't gone along with her grandiose ideas, I don't really feel that they will do him that much good, he was doing well enough with out her.

Celebrities are an excellent way of advertising thre thought of gettingpeople to vote, and the extra peple vote te morewe get a real thought of what the country needs, even with the incontrovertible fact that throughout terms of celebs endorsing specific applicants it relatively does come all the way down to the action picture star! If i became working for President/top Minister i could be cringing if Paris Hilton or Jordan recommended me because of the fact they could positioned the numerous extra clever voters (who're extra at risk of surely pass and vote) off surely balloting for me! even with the incontrovertible fact that that mentioned in the event that they're extra achieveable including George Clooney thas no longer so undesirable. additionally Arnold Swazenegger is a politian and hes the Govener of California!!!

Sheep, they do not understand,or refuse to listen to the candidates and go for whom is popular rather than ethical, and experienced.Oprah is their to let the feeble minded women realize that its OK to not vote for a woman, just because shes a candidate.
I actually think its funny, and Ironic that Oprah would even endorse anyone ,since her fame, fortune and her show promotes people who are victims, exploiting how they are and became victims and how they will always be victims. You know the Big Governments on the lefts wet dream.

It should matter just as much as who Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Keith Olberman, or any other talking head wants to endorse. Do your own research, and make an informed vote. This is the most important election for America in a very long time.

Sometimes the groupies` of a celebrity follow the celebrity`s endorsement because they are like the lemmings going to the ocean , because they are to politically lazy to sort out political issue`s for themselves !!

I'm still trying to figure out why people even care what celebrity endorses who.
Celebrities are just as dumber than the "common man" although they like to think they're superior because, well, THEY'RE STARS!! (They can all go suck an egg for all I care)
