The more specific the better...
The more original the better...

I think you could have a lot of fun (and maybe impress your teacher) with a paper about how the Confederacy planned the Civil War for almost a decade. Most people think it was a series of misunderstandings, but in reality it was the work of the slave powers, who not only knew they would seceed, but knew as far back as 1857 that by 1860 they would have to make their move.

A topic that is very rare for people to write about but that is easy to write seven pages on deals with women. What crucial role did women play in abolishing slavery?

Since slaves actually had more freedom than women in some ways, and both groups were oppressed, this is a great topic to discuss. They can be tied together easily by including Harriet Tubman.

If you find this question tough to fill several pages, then consider the more general topic of women in the Civil War. Or you could go another route and discuss women as humanitarians. For example, the Red Cross was created by Clara Barton during the Civil War.

A paper on any of those subjects ought to fill ninety pages, no longer to point 9. i might recommend choosing the only that seems finest to you. If I have been penning this paper, i might decide for 17! i like FDR and the recent Deal.

The people of Chattanooga, Tennessee and northern Georgia saw a huge influx of soldiers.

What effect did that have on the families? On the farms? On the local government?

Did they recover? What has changed there in the past 100 or so years?
