Yes. I did it at COMET when I bought my TV in August. I couldn't get them to bring the price down but I did get them to throw in the stand which was worth £100 free.

try it

I have done haggling in shops that sales women's clothing and they have made me a deal before. I bought many items in one day so I thought why not get something back. You would haggle on an open market so why not in a shop? Do it! They are desperate to sell, as long as you are reasonable, if they need the sale I don't see why they wont negotiate the price. I worked for 5 months in a shop for tiles and wooden floors, I got plenty of hagglers then, and to make the sale I did give them some freebies. Good luck!

Generally major stores have minimum wage staff with no power to vary the price .. plus a computer stocking system that imposes 'rules' .. so again almost impossible to vary the price (unless there is some 'special offer' they can invoke)

However as others have said you can get often get the Manager to 'throw in' other stuff for free. I assume this goes through the computer as 'damaged / demo stock' or 'shrinkage' (retail term for shop lifting).

I was in comet as well, i brought a camera for £30 then i realised the memory card i had for it was incompatible so i went back to the store and in the end they said they would give me one worth £25 for just £12.99 if i brought it rather than returning the camera but i had to argue with him for a while just to get that offer!

Yep, the principles of haggling are the same the World over.
If you walk away with them agreeing, you have been ripped off!
