And can you easily find a job there if you don't know spanish and in general? I live in Atlanta now and I desperately want to live somewhere closer to a beach. Is the cost of living really expensive and is it a high crime city?

Being that there are a few cities in Florida where there are a lot of Cuban-Americans living, it might be a little problem. If your job has a company down at Florida (like my cousin), you can easily get transferred. If you got a degree, you can get a job too.

Actually, Orlando, close to other cities in the US, are one of the BEST places to live. The crime rate is very low. You'll only get crime if you only go to the very FEW BAD parts of Miami (usually where there are a lot of Cubans). Miami itself is a very touristic place to live as well.

It's beautiful, the houses are affordable and you'll be making a great investment. My cousin lives down there and he bought his house for $200,000 (around there) and he will be selling for double the price!!! It's great because the houses are very cheap now. If you wait like a few more years, it'll go close to a million! It's actually where most people go to retire when they're older.

I went to Orlando on a vacation, and I was nothing but impressed. Although, I do prefer Southern California.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Considering you have been through such a horrible draught this year, you will be used to water restrictions which aren't really that terrible here. If you think living in Orlando will be like a vacation, think again. The majority of people who live in Orlando are not tan- working, housework, etc takes up the majority of time. I live 20 miles inland and I made it to the beach a few times a year. Remember the water does get colder in the winter, and the longer you live here -the colder it feels! In the summer you have the tourists filling the beach, which is good for the economy. Florida does not have a state income tax, but does have a sales tax on clothing and other items that your current state may not tax. There are web sites that can tell you how much you need to make in a particular city to maintain the same lifestyle that you currently have where you are now. Living in Florida I have found people either love it or hate it. The job search depends on what field you are looking. I wouldn't worry about not speaking Spanish, some employers would like to have some one who can speak both, but no one I know has had a problem not finding a job because of this. Florida is a very interesting place with beaches, theme parks, dinner shows, space center, botanical gardens, and other tourist attractions such as the Keys and St. Augustine, but like all places, also has its drawbacks- mole crickets, lizards, alligators, hurricanes, tornados, palmetto bugs, and lightening capital of the US.
Best of luck to you!

Are you kidding me? you may desire to have tunnel imaginative and prescient or maybe you have by no skill lived everywhere else... in spite of the certainty that there are a techniques worse places accessible. Out of each and every of the places you may stay contained in the U. S., Orlando is contained in the precise 10% (unquestionably). what kind of world are you residing in in case you think of you may shuttle someplace the place there'll not be some for of religious wierdos, corrupt government and regulation enforcement? travelers are everywhere as nicely- whethere that's some, they are basically passing by using or they are there the place you reside to verify what's occurring. I lived in a city of 900 as quickly as for a quick time and there have been nonetheless travelers. some might basically bypass by using and consume, some might inspect our interior sight (meaningless) museum... etc... So ask your self this: Do you particularly in comparison to Orlando or are you basically not applying all it has to grant?

I don't know where FreeSpirit is getting his info.. low crime..lol..
Orlando was just rated #11 in dangerous cities by the FBI.
A guy just got shot delivering little Debbie cakes.
There are many good areas and many bad areas.. it is a pocketed city.

The drivers bite.. lots of tailgaters.. fairly frequently you will hear stories of a pedestrian struck by more than 1 car and none of the drivers would stop. (I hate that)
Spanish isn't that important though others may disagree w/me...there are a lot of Hispanics here though.. mostly Puerto Rican.
Orlando's big draw is weather and Disney.. and the weather is good.
I live here because I work in the structural fields and I believe it is the better city for me.. I will consider relocation options in January.
A lot of people love the Orlando area, but I think there's an awful lot of hype going on too.

I just moved here from NYC 6 mos ago. It's warm... except for the summer when it's sweltering. In every other area, I'm completely underwhelmed. It's a right to work state, which means that the pay scale is pathetic, and the place is overpopulated and not at all industrialized. Every job has a doz people waiting for it. Passing thru, it looks good, but it you're from the north, it's culture shock.

Orlando is just about as terrible as Atlanta, both have their cool places and people if you are lucky enough to find them but the majority is a lot of terrible traffic, ugly city design, and annoying people.

orlando is great if you know the right areas. the nice areas are obviously nice but there are a lot of areas that are poor and crappy so you dont want to live there either.
