Thrush is an oral fungal infection by Candida albicans, a type of yeast. It's the same yeast that typically causes yeast infections and other things. It basically forms a layer of whitish film on your tongue. The treatment consists of swishing an oral antifungal agent in your mouth for the prescribed time period.

However, it really only occurs in immunocompromised people (people whose immune systems are not 100%). This can include people who are taking medications that suppress the immune system (e.g. steroids, chemotherapy for cancer, etc.) or diseases that suppress the immune system (e.g. AIDS, SCID, etc.).

In general, normal, healthy people with healthy immune systems do not get thrush.
