go to start, go to connections and delete the dial up connection because you have a cable hookup.

if you use it to get online , go to Internet Options and change your priorities on how to get online and then you should be ok.

I hope it works Miss Ellie because you are wonderful.

this problem usually occurs when you have a dial up connection set up on the computer. if this is the problem then all you have to do is go to start - connect to - show all connections and delete the dial-up connection. if you still use your dial-up connection then you will have to go into your internet options and change the way your computer tries to access the internet for priorities. to do this you need to go into start - control panel - internet options - connections tab and either select the never dial a connection bullet or dial a connection when a network connection is not available.

hope this helps. good luck

Miss ellie, AT&T sent me a disk, when I got dsl,I put it in and it showed a process that I click next every time it showed up, and at the end it displayed a modem access code on the bottom on the bottom of your dsl hookup,I put the number in and it hooked up automatic.
