~Given that JC was born (most probably) in September, why waste time with all that foolishness in December at all. It just gets in the way of Santa Claus. If you know anything at all about the history of the holiday, you have to realize that Santa is a much more appropriate symbol for the event in any case.

For starters: Jesus was not born on December 25th. That is just the traditional day men celebrate His birth, a date established by the Roman Catholic Church, timed to coincide with the rituals of pagan religions in the hope of offering an alternative to the pagan festivities. A careful examination of the accounts leads most Bible scholars to agree that the actual time of Christs birth was probably nearer to sometime in September or the first of October.
Recent astrological observations have led some to speculate that it may actually have occurred on September 11, however the actual date will probably never really be known until His return, when He establishes His earthly kingdom.
I've include a link to provide you some useful tools for serious study if you are so inclined. The tools are mostly free.

Because the majority of christians don't know the first thing about their religion. Like Jesus wasn't born in December, just the Catholics trying to replace people's winter holiday with their own... oh and it is a display that they set out for looks. Having it out for one day makes the display not worth the trouble they put into setting it up.

Because the purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus so an empty crib is a bit stupid as there's nothing to celebrate. Nativity scenes are a reminder of the season, they're not meant to be a real time re-enactment of what happened.
Don't be such a scrooge, enjoy the season.

In the end, does it really matter if Jesus ends up in the manger a few days early? Does it really harm anyone that a plastic, or glass figurine is put out before it's Christ's birthday, does God really care. It's just them showing the world that they believe in the true meaning of Christmas.
Would you rather have people skip putting out the Nativity scene out at all, and just going with a plastic Santa, and reindeers.

Because we're celebrating His birth throughout the Christmas season. Why are the Wise Men there before Epiphany? And why do we give the gifts on December 25? Shouldn't we give them when the Wise Men got there, since that's what the gift-giving represents? (Personally, I am an advocate of that so that I can take advantage of the post-Christmas sales.)
It's tradition. That's why.

Christ was NOT born anywhere near December. It's more likely, considering the texts of the bible and descriptions of the weather that he was born in the spring. So, realistically, they should put him in the manger around April. It would make more sense.

Because it's habit, and it looks cute. I doubt Jesus cares, so why should you? Getting mad over the Nativity is sooooo not the Christmas Spirit!
