Energy travels downhill. That is, higher energy will always degrade to lower energy. And one way for that to happen is for the energy to spread out from the higher energy source to outlying areas where the energy is lower. This is why heat travels towards the colder (lower energy) areas for example.

Vibrations are indications of energy. The higher the frequencies of the vibrations, the higher is the energy content. This follows for both transverse (S) waves and for compression (P) waves. For example, if a steel bar is hammered at one end, the sound waves will spread throuout the bar because the molecules at the source (where the bar was struck) share their high energy with the lower energy molecules next to them.

These in turn vibrate at or close to the frequencies at the source. In fact, not all the energy gets passed on due to friction losses and such. Further, as the sound spreads out, the total energy from the source is spread out over more and more area and/or volume. That results in lower energy densities and fewer and fewer next level molecules get excited. So that next level of molecules is not as energectic as those at the source.

As the sound spreads, the total amount of energy passed is less at each next level away from the sournce. Eventually the sound dies out because there is insufficient energy to pass on and excite the next level of molecules. And, to add to this weakness, the energy density is too sparse to excite many of the molecules even if there were sufficient total energy.

I can honestly say with a 1000% guarantee that I would not run away in fear. In fact I can honestly say I would not run away even if my life depended on it. I and those who hold such extra qualifications as I have would never run away in fear. Such considerations as you mention demand that those such as I receive special consideration when a team is being considered. Every investigative team should have a minimum of two members with these qualities as long as all other qualifications are met in order to have two that will remain no matter the circumstance in order to witness any instance that they may become involved in. I refer to those of us that are seen as limited in our abilities by some due to the same qualifications that make us invaluable in a situation as you describe. I refer to the physically handicapped and an inability to run. I personally wear 3lbs of metal on each leg that has a hinged joint with a spring that allows me to walk. I cannot remember what it feels like to run or jump as it has been around 20 years since I have done so. My handicap started at the end of the first Gulf War. Yes I do refer to it as a handicap as opposed to a disability. A disability disallows function, a handicap is something that challenges but if one is able to creatively apply it as an asset it can be used to ones benefit. The same wall that blocks one persons way may be the platform for another that allows them to see things from a unique perspective.
