y = 7 has zero slope, so the perpendicular line will have infinite slope or a vertical line in the form x = k
now you have the point (2,-4) and the only line x = k that has that point is x = 2, hope this helps

ok so lets replace the y=7 with m=7
y=mx + b
-4= -1/7(2) + b you have to do the opposite and make it a negative. If it is already negative make it a positive.
-4= -2/7 + b multiply -1/7 by the 2
subtract the -2/7 on both sides (minus a negative is = to plus a positive)
-3 5/7 = b
so your equation is y= -1/7 - (minus) 3 5/7
I had a test on that 2day. lol

yes, the answer is x=2. y=7 is a horizontal line intercepting the y axis at 7. the perpindicular to that is a vertical line. since a vertical line touches every y value on a single x value u just need to find the x value. it is 2 because it contains (2,-4)

I think the answer is:
y=mx+b X is 2, and Y is -4
7=m(2)+(-4)
7=m(2)-4
7+4=m(2)
11=m(2)
11=2m
11\2=m

well..........in order to b perpendicular to a horizontal line...the slope would b undefined...
when u use the formula for the slope, y(sub 2) minus y(sub 1) over x(sub 2) minus x(sub 1), you get 8 over 0, which is not solvable...so my answer is x=2, but check with your teacher tomorrow

Hmmm. "Working on this a long time" you say? Or, "typed it into google and it didn't come up, so now I'm here." is more reasonable. Whatever, it isn't solvable with those variables.
