This is general tractor fluid. Used for both the transmission and hydraulics. Hydraulics were working till it got real cold. It does not look white, just thick. When I remove the feed line to the loader it shoots air for a while then flows perfect. I may be getting air in the system but checked everything I can think of. That is why I was thinking bad tractor fuid.

No. "thick and gummy " is good for hydraulic oil. If their is any milky colored substance in the oil, then that would indicate moisture in the fluid.

It is used in the tractors hydraulic system in the front and rear end loaders for lifting things like Hay Bales etc EDIT-If there is no hydraulic oil in the hydraulic system then the hydraulic system won't work because there is no pressure being created to generate power to the auxilliary items. The tractors engine will still run because it doesnt use hydraulic oil.

Thick and gummy doesn't sound like hydraulic fluid, sounds more like gear case hypoid oil. If it's supposed to be hydraulic fluid it's probably time to change it. Check your manual to see what kind you are supposed to be using.

I don't think that thick and gummy is good for hydraulic oil but it usually turns milky white when there is water in it.
