If you talk about the places where there is a high density of people, Like L.A. or Sacramento, San Francisco ... ( or? ) Ya, there is the traffic & noise, & homeless people begging & whatever .... But if you head out to the Sierras ... totally different picture, Ya, the squirrels may mug you for lunch, but ... hey, stuff happens.

The crime. I know some suburbs are safe, but in California, you always have to worry about criminals. So many rapists, murderers, etc.
Earthquakes and fires are pretty bad too.
The traffic is horrendous, too. In California, it's pretty crowded.
