for a person of any minority (basically anyone of non "white" descent) to be a racist?

Why or why not?

I know some white people can be racist, I'm asking if say a black person, asian, mexican, whatever can be racist?

I have friends who argue that only white people can be racist other races are just prejudice....I wanted to know others thoughts on this.

Anyone can be racist it doesn't matter what color their skin is. Prejudice is part of being racist. And Chelsea, you need to look up Affirmative Action, it's not just about race.
I don't think your some racist white girl on purpose I just think you need to put yourself in someone else's shoes. Most whites don't know what it is not to be white. The majority of America is white, you don't have to worry about not getting a job because your white. You should open your eyes to your naturally born preferential treatment instead of affirmative action; which you don't even fully understand.
If you prejudge and/or discriminate against someone because of their race you are a racist.

yes! I swear, people are always saying that white people are racist and oh my god what bastards they are. But let me tell you, know what's racist, affirmative action. Why is it that a black kid who has a 3.5 and is ranked 100 has a better chance than I do with a 4.5 and a rank of 35? How the hell is that fair? It's not. It's racist. But do black people ever care when the racism is to their advantage? I know a few that do, but still. It is stupid. I think minorities like to use that card too much and too broadly. But whatever, I bet some minority will read this and think that I'm just a racist white girl, but I hope they realize that by thinking that they're being racist by considering my opinion as less because I'm white.

Yes. Anyone can be racist. Being racist means you have a hatred towards a race that is not your own.

racism is not about blacks and whites,

some have observed that even in the black community
lighter blacks are favored over darker blacks, by other blacks.

here in California, in the Latin (Mexican American) community they prefer lighter skinned Latins over darker skinned Latins.

if you you go to other countries like India, they also favor lighter skin over darker skin.

racism is a natural behavior, if you understand group dynamics, a group can only exist if it has at least one characteristic that is different from other groups.

If I created a retro virus that destroyed the dark pigment under the skin, thus making all peoples pale and white,
the group formerly known as black would no longer exist.
then people would find other things to discriminate over.
like hair color, eye color, body types, etc...

It does not matter what the ethnicity is. I believe that anyone can be a racist. I don't believe that it's right to be that way, but you can't help what others think, you can only try to be a possitive influence on them.

Yes, perfect example, Al Sharpton. Just look at what he has based his life on, being racist against white people.

um it's possible for anyone to be racist. i don't even understand why you are asking this. Why? because racism isn't defined as a white person displaying hatred for another race. it is defined as one race displaying hatred for another race. and being coloured is no excuse for any kind of racist behaviour.

I think now during our modern times that not everyone is racist, but they only refer to a person they hate by using racial tactics. They're only using history they were taught in order to hide what they really want to say!!!
